Description of 1969 Pontiac Firebird Coupe |
1969 Firebird for sale clear SD title in my name, Includes original paperwork back to the 1969 original sales invoice! This original 1969 Pontiac Firebird 350 V-8 engine runs reel good, original TH350 Auto tranny, Factory Air Conditioning, P/S, P/B, original Tinted glass all around, Formula/Trans Am? hood and side air scoops, rear spoiler, later Trans Am honeycomb 15" wheels with 215/60R15 tires good tread but aged sidewalls. Mostly original and straight rust free. Dirty but rust free and straight and true sheet metal and suspension underneath! Car originated from La Quinta, California... a dry desert city where it spent it's early years, then to cold storage in foothills of the Montana Bighorn Mountains and finally stored high and dry in Rapid City SD. Not a filthy barn find but well preserved vintage steel. What does it need? new tires, Air Condition serviced, and overall TLC. The doors don't sag and they close real good. (the good KLUNK!) The windows roll up and down ok. No cracks in all original tinted glass. Everything underneath is dirty but straight and rust free. Even the bottom of the rockers have paint on them. Let me give you some advice....Why buy a rusted out hulk that will take 4 years of time an money just to get the body repaired? This Firebird is straight, rust free, so you can put your time and money into mechanical upgrades that matter. If you want a perfectly restored 1969 Firebird, don't buy this one. Buy one already restored and take it to the car shows and everyone will just walk by it and nod and then head over to see a patina car like this one... Restored muscle car? Ho-Hum....big deal...dozens of them all the same....Patina cars draw a crowd. Instead buy this one and just fix some things that need fixing: Flush and drain all the fluids and re-fill with new. Get the A/C checked out and re-charged. Inspect the brake shoes and wheel cylinders or put disc brakes on front. Check the suspension and alignment. If the tranny ever gives you trouble, take the opportunity to put in a 700R4 OD tranny so you can drive it 80MPH on the highway. You will enjoy it more and drive it more. Don't bid unless you have the money and will pay up if you win the bid. Don't tell me you are a newbie bidder and didn't expect to win the bid. Ask questions now not after you win the bid. On Sep-27-19 at 08:46:06 PDT, seller added the following information: I finally located some numbers on the engine....on the right front next to the water pump, the block is stamped "YE" 0797716.Pontiac "YE" is ONLY a 1969 Pontiac Firebird 350 CI 265HP Auto Tranny engine. The date code on the 9784233 intake manifold is F099. The Heads are #47 and the date code i finally found is F049. I believe the trailing "9" is 1969. I have posted a pix of the trunk, it was surface rusty due to a deteriorated trunk weatherstrip, which i did replace and then scoured the trunk floor and shot it with a thin cote of white/gray trunk paint. I have more pixs and can take any pix shot you need...if you send to me your email. |
