Description of 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am |
A genuine Starlight Black 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is a true American icon thanks to Hollywood. But when you see a T-top coupe with that has exceptional low mileage, it's original V8 power, the fun of a four-speed, cold-blowing A/C, awesome documentation, and a slick treatment of its iconic exterior, then you realize that you can meet this idol because it's not going to disappoint. We could continue to make Smokey and the Bandit movie references about a black Trans Am with gold trim, but the simple fact is that these were so cool-looking that they were destined to be legendary even without Hollywood. Never designed to be a subtle machine, the deep Starlight Black is the perfect outlaw color, especially with the clearcoat professional respray of this car's factory-correct color. All the gold pinstriping and accents are complete and looking good, too. It follows all the main lines of the car, including around the fender flares, windows, and accents the beak-like front end to really make this Firebird look like it's flying down the highway. Of course, the best bird is the fire-breathing hood Phoenix that everyone looks for on these T/As, and as expected, this one is finished in a bold gold. But arguably, the best golden shine comes from the iconic snowflake-style wheels. Plus, as a proper Trans Am, you get everything else you love - from the shaker on the hood to the full-width rear spoiler. This car has averaged under 1,000 miles annually, and so you immediately know that means it has seen less daily grind and more collector care over the decades. That's also why the correct interior remains so well preserved. We love how the same color theme basically continues inside. After all, the tan interior goes nicely with the exterior gold, and some of your favorite pieces are finished in black (like the sports steering wheel.) So, the color coordination and the condition mean you'll happily leave the T-tops out when you show off this T/A. And while the seats don't look like they've ever been left out in the sunshine, the comfy tan cloth is a true advantage any time you hop in on a sunny day. This well-preserved coupe also came loaded, and it includes power windows, power locks, an armrest center console, tilt steering column, and the factory AM/FM/cassette stereo. Even the factory air conditioning is blowing nice and cold! But this T/A is more than just a coddler, and you know that the moment you spot the machine-turned dash with full gauge package, including the cool tach/clock combo. The numbers-matching 400 cubic-inch V8 has an authentic appearance right down to the factory hood shaker that everybody remembers so well. The block is still covered in factory-correct Pontiac Blue paint, and the tidy appearance is another sign that this low-mileage machine has led a careful life. And the way it fires up so eagerly reaffirms the respect this one has received. The V8 inhales deeply with a four-barrel carburetor, and it makes such great muscle car sounds from the dual exhaust. Plus, the numbers-matching Borg Warner four-speed manual transmission keeps you in firm control of the action. And speaking of control, these T/As were known as great handling sports cars, including power steering, power brakes w/discs up front, and sway bars front & rear. The sale comes complete with terrific paperwork, including the original window sticker, factory buildsheet, warranty card, title documentation, and service manuals. This is an awesome factory Black Trans Am that has the right preservation and investments to be truly a cut-above. The Bandit's journey started in Atlanta, and now yours can, too. Call today!!! |
