Description of 1967 Pontiac Firebird 400 Convertible |
This 1967 Pontiac Firebird convertible is a sleek pony car on the outside, and it packs a 400 cubic-inch punch under its pointed hood. Add in a well-optioned handsome interior, and you have a great choice for a driver's droptop classic. There's no sneaking around in a Firebird convertible painted in a bright red. There's even a hint of metallic element that really comes out in the sunlight, so it's exactly what you want for a sunshine-friendly droptop. There's some sporty style with the twin hood scoops, a chin spoiler, blackout rear panel, and Rally II-style wheels. But the full appeal here is also about having a first-year Firebird with crisp lines and cool design elements, like the beak-like front bumper that integrates into the front end. The black convertible top looks new, and so it has a taut fit that looks especially nice when in place. While we like the way this one looks with the roof in place, there's something extra distinctive about the parchment interior against the red exterior, especially when this convertible is open to the world. This is also particularly nice because you can instantly see they made more recent investments in the seats, door panels, and carpeting to give it a fresh look and feel. This has all the right classic pieces you want, like bucket seats and a center console. You even have the hood-mounted tach, which is the 1960s version of a head-up display. Plus, there are nice upgrades for comfort and performance. You have a cleanly mounted auxiliary gauge trio, and there's a modern AM/FM/CD stereo for ideal top-down driving tunes. Those callouts on the hood scoop weren't lying, and so you have the largest displacement offered by Pontiac in '67. Under the hood is a year-correct 400 cubic-inch V8, and you can immediately see they made a solid investment in making sure this turquoise block radiated from within the dark engine bay. It's a well-done total package that also includes an MSD ignition, robbed valve covers, and a new power brake booster. The V8 inhales deeply with a Rochester four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales with a sweet sound out of the dual exhaust. The TH400 three-speed automatic transmission is both stout and smooth, and the power steering makes driving easy. Plus, you have nice upgrades like front disc brakes and a beefed-up rear suspension with sway bar. Complete with owner's manual and Pontiac Historic Services documentation, this is a first-ever Firebird convertible that has power and quality all in one package. Call today!!! |
