Description of 1979 Pontiac Grand Prix

This 1979 Pontiac Grand Prix walks a fine line between cool sleeper and awesome all-around cruiser. That's because beneath the true classic style is a powerful ZZ4 crate V8, upgraded suspension, overdrive transmission, A/C interior, and much more. It makes for the kind of solid all-around classic you never expected, and once you dig into the details, you'll never forget it.
These cars practically defined the era with their long hood and short deck design, and it has never gone out of style. And the profile has a subtle wave-like curve that symbolizes the premium and sporty feeling of the Grand Prix. The glossy Montego Cream seems ideal for a 1970s machine like this, especially with the harmonizing tan vinyl roof and matching side trim strips. There are nice details everywhere you look - from the artful taillights, to the mirror-like front bumper that follows the contour of the pointed grille. And because this is GM's performance division, an iconic set of American Racing Torq Thrust wheels have been added. They go with the car's chrome shine, and so people may not even know it's a hint at more upgrades within.
The first impression of the interior may just feel light a time capsule. The saddle tan has the look and feel of the plush environment that GM seem to specialize in this era. You can seat up to five others with you in this true cruiser-sized coupe, but the fold-down armrest up front reminds you that the driver is really the king. As you slip behind the classic three-spoke steering wheel, you start to really see the full upgraded package. The center stack has the controls for the cold-blowing factory air conditioning, but just below that is a Kenwood AM/FM/CD stereo with USB input for the latest in driving music. And when you use the tilt steering column, it gets you a good view of the well-integrated AutoMeter Pro-Comp full gauge package with large speedo and tach.
Under the hood is the best secret of them all. While this was built in an era that wasn't known for power, this has been rectified with a ZZ4 crate motor installed less than 7,500 miles ago. These are already known for some serious muscle right out of the box. Plus, this one inhales deeper with a Holley four-barrel carburetor and exhales with added power as Hedman headers feeding the big dual exhaust. And because this is making a serious upgrade in muscle, this was also fortified with a 12-bolt rear end, Hotchkis rear sway bar, and Hotchkis arms. More than just pure power, this is a thoughtful setup, too. The 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission is a stout unit that's built to handle big power, and it also give you easy overdrive comfort. In fact, the cruise control really make it great for the highway. The consignor even specifically mentions how this one stays cool even when running around town with the A/C on. Add in power steering, power brakes w/discs up front, and new modern tires, and it's easy to see this is meant to a be a solid all-around driver.
The sale comes complete with a Viper alarm, car cover, extra parts, and service manuals. It's one of the most interesting and complete customs you can get your hands on right now, and so you know you don't want a deal like this to slip through your fingers. Call today!!!
