Description of 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix |
Beautiful 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ 400 4bbl with only 65k miles. Rare full vinyl top SJ with cornering lamps. West coast car. All original sheet metal. Zero rust on the body! So no rust repair ever.. not even surface rust!! 1 family owned until I bought it less than 2 years ago. For the first 32+ years of it's life it was a garage queen. Only driven for pleasure. Then passed down to the original owner's nephew who used it more as a driver. Where it then sat under a car port... until I bought it. New paint in April of 2021. The paint is near show quality. It's smooth as glass and reflects like a mirror. The only imperfections are under the deck lid and door jambs. Also new are: vinyl top, wheels, tires, weatherstriping, hood insulation and muffler. The interior is original and in very good condition. However, the front seats are showing wear, as is the carpet. The top of the dash is sun faded and has 3 cracks. I was quoted $750 to repair it. I planned to do it later this year. So I bought a custom velour cover to put over it temporarily. Engine turn vinyl overlay was put on top of the wood grain inserts. It can be easily removed if you prefer the woodgrain. Engine and trans are strong and the car drives smoothly. The valve cover gaskets do seep. There is also a minor leak from either the exhaust manifold or the heat riser valve. The engine compartment is clean for it's age. But could use detailing. I purchased v/c and exhaust gaskets and planned to have detailing done after they were installed. Power driver seat and windows work as they should. Power locks are intermittent. Heater/AC fan does not work on high. AC blows cool but not cold. It still has the original R-12 freon. These beautiful Grand Prix's are steadily rising in value. It's not often you find one that has never had any rust repairs. Which make this already rare SJ even more rare. So why am I selling it? Too many cars and not enough space or time for all of them. I have 2 projects I need to focus on. My 67 Buick GS400 convertible and 71 Riviera. I will need to speak to any perspective buyer before removing this listing. Just as to make sure we agree on all details of the sale. I am happy to answer any questions you may have about the car. More photos can be made available to serious buyers. If you're local you're welcome to see the car in person. If not I am happy to assist your transporter with loading. Shipping costs are the buyers responsibility. Please have all funds on hand before you commit to buy. The car and title will not leave my possession until all funds have cleared. Deposit is non refundable. |
