Description of 1957 Pontiac Bonneville |
1957 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible. #546 of 630 produced. This is a rare high performance, factorycustom made limited production luxury convertible that sports the highesttechnology available, a Rochester factory fuel injection system. Factory fuel injection was available only on Bonneville’sfor 1957. This car is very originalexcept for engine. A stock engine isinstalled along with a factory 4 speed automatic transmission. I have the fuelinjection unit, distributor and all the fuel injection sheet metal that arerare and unique to this car. Some small items are missing but they can all befound for sale elsewhere. All the unique Bonnevilleonly trim is with the car. This is a very solid car. However, there is somerust on the upper rear quarters and over the trunk wheel houses. The floors, trunk and rockers are solid, see photos. This is the original color, white witha red spear. The seats were replaced with blue seats. Only a handful of RESTORABLE ’57 Pontiac Bonneville’s areleft. Most others have been restored. Many restored Bonneville’s have bodies that have been put together fromother cars. Before restoration, theyoften had rusty floors, fenders, trunk, and frames. This car is a solid original with the factoryfold on the rear quarter panels, unique only to Bonneville’s. So, if you want to build a ’57 Pontiac theright way, start with an all original, untouched car that has a good body. A bit of history about this car. It was often seen in the Portland, Oregonarea in the early 70s where the owner liked to drive his Bonnevilleregularly. Eventually, one of the first1957 Pontiac specialists in our country, Dan Rogers, from Sandy, Oregon, purchased the Bonneville. Dan worked onthe car but eventually needed to sell it.I purchased the Bonneville from Dan in 1979. This car has been in dry storage ever sincethen. This Bonneville is a perfect start for a restoration. I amopen to all fair offers. I can offer youthe option of having this Bonneville restored at my restoration facility, theOld Stillwater Garage in New Jersey. For more than 40 years, I have built manyaward-winning cars for customers across the Country.
