Description of 1972 Pontiac GTO

For sale privately, by owner:
1972 Pontiac LeMans, GTO

  • Decently low original (since new) mileage of 81,059 miles.

Absolutely beautiful car. Steady compliments on the dazzling gorgeous color combination. Runs impeccably well.
Just a joy to have owned. Never a hiccup. The most reliable vintage car we've ever had. Super solid solid solid.
I'm proud to say that, although it appears as a fully restored car... it's not. This car has had one paintjob, long ago, on a really nice mostly-original car to begin with. This car was never a full restoration (nor ever needed). No rust ever.
This is a really decent and super solid car.
I don't want to be negative in any way but feel inclined to point out... Guys, please don't be mislead by someone else's recently fixed-up or glamorous looking hack job. (We've all heard about or read stories). This is a car with NO EXCUSES, no surprises !!! I've even included the appraiser's sheet in the photos. I cannot stress enough, this is a quality car, and super fun reliable driver. Show it, enjoy it, have some fun shifting through the gears..... it's always ready to hit the key, go get happy waves and thumbs-up.
Now, to be perfectly clear, and not mislead anyone. This car is NOT a "GTO Judge". It's just the trunklid sticker. In 1972, there was no "Judge" model. Remove the trunklid decal if you like.
General / additional information:
  • For 1972 Pontiac simplified their line-up classification, referring to all their intermediate sized cars as Lemans. The GTO was now referred to as the LeMans GTO.
  • To further elaborate / clarify, the GTO was not a standalone model; rather a LeMans GTO. It was an option package (which this car has).
  • To analogize.. having a LeMans GTO would, as of '72, be similar to a Firebird - Trans Am, or Camaro Z/28; a model line-up name classification simplification from GM.

Drivetrain information:
  • Engine is a nicely built 1969 YS block 400 with higher compression and a more aggressive camshaft. It is quite strong, with a nice threatening idle, and tons of torque.
  • Hitting the pedal, pulling the shifter, while hearing the sound of the 4-barrels coming in is just pure exhilaration. It's really great power and, of course... the 4-speed manual makes this car a lot of enjoyment to drive. Additionally, the car has posi, and can really scoot pretty well if you are feeling like some fun.

In the photos, I've included a couple pictures of the car's appraisal. It lists every aspect of the car.
  • Personally I prefer describing things a bit less and giving more, but this will tell you exactly the condition through professional eyes. Once again, this is a real-deal quality car that you won't need to do anything with but enjoy driving, enjoy looking at, and enjoy owning. Check the rating ratios.

Location and additional information :
Please note: The car is located in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
  • Because this car is domestic (built in USA) and antique status, IT IS 100% FREE OF ANY IMPORT/EXPORT RESTRICTIONS. It's same as taking state-to-state.
  • Also please know, title is 100% transferrable (in Alberta, we use the US system, even your insurance companies!).
Shipping:
  • Furthest states from us would be Florida and Texas. Both, from our experience before, have normally been in the 2,500 dollar range. I'd suggest, depending on where you are, please budget for at least 2,000 to play on the safe side.

As an important and final bit of information... KINDLY LOOK AT OUR FEEDBACK !!!
  • A few years ago, we sold off quite a few of our cars. My wife is very good at setting up shipping and everything else. She'll take care of it all for you.

As someone who's bought bought items, property, and cars... I truly believe that a happy purchase makes a happy ownership. The two just go hand-in-hand and the joy momentum intensifies from there. With that in mind, please let us assure this.
  • If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm eager to help answer. If you'd like to speak in person, just let me know and we'll set it up.
  • I also have a video of the car. I'm going to try and add it to the photos here, but if it doesn't go, and you'd like to see, tell me. I'll be happy to text it to anyone who'd like.

Recently we purchased something we've really wanted for a while and bugged our friend about for a long time. He gave in and now something we have has unfortunately got to go. Trust me when I say we'd like to selfishly enjoy this car for much longer but, must make way to make space. That said, I know it will make someone very happy and I look forward to discussing it with you !

GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BIDDING !!!!!
