Description of 1954 Pontiac Other |
This is a 1954 Pontiac Chiefton with 26. 78 miles. This car spent nearly 40 years in a garage in Connecticut and was owned by the same family until 2006. This car is untouched and in great condition. Motor and transmission run like a 26. 00 mile vehicle. This car is rust free and the floor pans look like new (see picture). The paint is the original lacquer that looks good from 15 feet but shows it's age up close. Interior is original and in very good condition except the front seat will need re-covered due to a hole in the fabric. Radio is AM and powers up with no sound. I've been told that the speaker has a set of points that may need cleaned. I have replaced the shocks and put brand new Coker tires all the way around. I have rebuilt the carburetor with parts for modern fuel and replaced an upper eccentric front bearing. All of the locks work like the day they were new. The miles are believed to be accurate (see photo of 1994 service sticker on door post)although the Ohio title says discrepancy. This was due to the death of the original owner and the nephew that brought the car from Connecticut to Ohio not being able to swear to the mileage. I was told that the miles were correct but Ohio law would not let the nephew swear for correct mileage as the buyer. That said. this car starts. runs. drives. and shifts fantastic. The right rear quarter has a couple of small dents and there is one small dent above the left headlight (all could be easily fixed). The stainless trim on the right rear door has some damage but I have another one that comes with the car. This car also comes with another set of rear leaf springs. the original owner's manual. the shop manual and assorted documents and pictures that were in the car when I purchased it. I also have a letter from the nephew that documents the history of the car. I also will include a new distributor cap. points. rotor cap. and spark plugs. This is a great opportunity if you are looking for an original barn find in great condition. |
