Description of 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Cpe |
1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Zero Miles on Fresh Engine Rebuild Fresh Transmission California Car from New Stock #0713 VIN # WP0AB0916ES120732 163,100 Miles on Chassis 0 Miles on Engine Rebuild Black on Black Full Leather 915 5-speed Manual Clean and Clear California Title Southern California Porsche from New PCA Member Owned Most Records from New Numbers Matching No Accidents/Mostly Original Paint It is finally happening…Porsche enthusiasts are beginning to realize that the G-body Porsches, specially the 3.0 and 3.2 engine cars, re incredibly versatile collector cars. I have been advising many buyers about how wonderful these cars are to drive and how durable and relatively maintenance free they are to own. Specifically, ’ve grown a soft spot for the 1984-1986 3.2 Carreras. I know the hype for the G50 tranny cars, nd yes they are very reliable. However, here is a compromise. The G50 is such a heavy transmission that the light and nimble feel of the early 911s are a bit lost. With the 915s, he engine spools up much quicker. Plus, ’ve found that if you don’t over-modify these cars and don’t smash the gearbox, hese transmissions can last well over 200,000 miles. This Carrera was built in December of 1983 and delivered new by Porsche of Downtown Los Angeles on January 16th, 984. There were several owners over the years and all of them were enthusiastic when it came to service. We have extensive records of most services from new. This example was driven and serviced regularly. The current Orange County owner purchased the car in 2009 with around 150,000 miles. Besides normal services, pon recent inspection (12/12/15) the mechanic found one of the head studs pulling out. So, hey did an engine rebuild at a cost of over $12,000. Further highlights of recent/significant services include: Engine rebuild (top end…documented with photos): Engine sound pad New gaskets Valve covers Porsche factory vintage oil filter New piston rings New oil lines and oil return tubes New timing chain guide rails New rocker arms New valve guides Valve job on cylinder heads Powdercoat engine sheet metal/covers New clutch kit (while engine was being done)/resurface flywheel New transmission (@110k miles) Motor and trans mounts replaced (@148k miles) Bilstein shocks replaced (@132k miles) Replaced master cylinder (@140k miles) CV Boots replaced (@150k miles) New Bridgestone Potenza tires Brakes have 75% life remaining Leather interior restored (seats and door panels) Factory carpet installed by dealer Steering wheel rewrapped in leather New factory dash and headliner (@130k miles) Replaced shifter bushings Factory short shifter New Bosch wiper blades and windshield washer pump Fuchs polished and restored by Al Reed H5 factory headlamps New turn signal lenses Windscreen replaced (@130k miles) It is clear by the condition and receipts that this Carrera was always well cared-for and garaged. The paint is mostly original with minimal signs of use. There are a few nicks and chips that have been touched up over the years, ut less than most cars with this many miles. The rear quarter panels were painted sometime ago when the car was fitted with a Carrera spoiler and they wanted to match/blend the paint. The original paint/factory delivered flat decklid has been reinstalled. The Carrera tail is available for purchase in addition. The Bosch H5 headlights are a more sophisticated update over the standard H4 conversion. The wheels were just refinished by Al Reed and wear brand new Bridgestone tires. The brake pads were recently replaced and have over 75% life remaining. The interior is equally nice and looks more like a preserved 50k mile example. The leather seats, arpet, ash, nd door panels look like new with hardly any signs of use. The headliner is also clean with no tears. The headliner on the sunroof is showing some wrinkles and the original visors are a bit puffy. All the gauges function properly as does the radio, ower antenna, ower windows, nd sunroof. The A/C currently does not operate due to a bad compressor…everything else is hooked up. This Carrera is wonderful to drive. The motor is just getting broken in from its recent rebuild and an oil change and valve adjustment is recommended in a 1,000-miles. The throttle response is crisp with exceptionally strong power. The brakes and steering are precise and feel great. The car drives straight and feels more like a sub 50k-mile example. California registration is current. This Carrera includes the original tool kit, pare, ack, ir compressor, ar cover, -ring binder of all receipts/records (see pic), xtra keys, heel lock, nd owner’s manual. The factory Carrera tail (not original to the car) is available for an additional fee.
