Description of 1988 Porsche 928 S4, Rare Color Combination, Clean Carfax, Gorgeous |
Offered for sale is a beautiful, 5k original mile, eavily documented, echanically strong 1988 Porsche 928 S4, inished in rare factory correct Lagoon Green Metallic over Silver Grey leather with dark piping. Delivered new to its original owner in Burlingame, A, he car would subsequently be traded in in 1990, t which point Hoffman Porsche in East Hartford, T sourced it for one their clients. The car would remain in Connecticut until 1999, t which point it was sold to a buyer in nearby New Jersey, here it would remain until we acquired it in January.Throughout the car's 27+ years of service, t has always been driven sparingly and been well maintained and cared for, s evidenced by a thick stack of service receipts and clean Carfax report. The car also comes with its original window sticker and its original books and manuals. As Porsche's first significant, ront-engine Grand Tourer, he 928 drew the initial ire of enthusiasts worldwide, ut as soon as they realized it wasn't to replace the beloved 911 (rather to compliment it in a Porschephile's garage), pinions changed. A big V8 Autobahn bomber, he 928 was far more civilized than the 911, oasting big cushy seats, ower everything, sually an automatic transmission and all the Star Wars/Reagan era futuristic design elements that a successful 1980's man could ask for. It was and remains a true GT cruiser; extremely comfortable with a powerful and torquey V8 making smooth, njoyable driving effortless. Furthermore, n following with Porsche's legendary legacy, he handling is great and the looks are timeless. Lagoon Green Metallic is a rare and wonderfully understated color, ut "green" is somewhat of a misnomer, s most people would describe the color as light blue metallic. That being said, t's an excellent finish for the 928's lines, ffset beautifully by the grey interior and marred only by the most negligible of imperfections, one of which are significant enough to register in the pictures. The car's body is entirely straight and free of dings or evidence of bodywork and none of the body panels (doors, ood, ear decklid) have ever been replaced, etaining their factory matching chassis number stickers. The glass and rubber is excellent shape and the original wheels are wrapped in Toyo tires with plenty of remaining tread. The car's interior is equally as clean, he leather seats, arpets and headliner showing only minimal wear, hich is also true of the optional dark blue floor mats. The power sunroof, ower seats and power windows are all fully functional, s is the modern Kenwood 6-disc sound unit, owever the original Blaupunkt unit is relatively easy to source. Everything else on the car is stock without any modifications and the car retains its original spare and complete original tool-kit. The car is also excellent mechanically, eeling like a tight, ell-maintained, 5k mile example should. It starts effortlessly, roducing a low rumble to announce its brawny 316hp 5.0L V8, nd while it's civil in city driving and smooth through all of the gears, t pulls with incredible force when asked. With its quiet cabin and even drive quality, t's very easy to look down at your gauges on the freeway and realize you're doing 95mph when you assumed you were only a hair over 70. Despite the fact it's a front engine V8, t's still a Porsche and it performs with poise in the canyons as well as on the freeway. Although it has accrued relatively few miles, he car was always regularly driven and serviced throughout its nearly three-decade run with no prolonged periods of sitting idle. The thick stack of service records shows consistent maintenance, ncluding an all-important timing belt replacement less than 4k miles ago. This is an excellent opportunity to acquire a quickly appreciating and beautiful modern classic. With vintage Porsches having appreciated faster and holding value better than any other marque (save for perhaps Ferrari), he outlandish numbers that 356s and 911s have been realizing have made the 928 a legitimate and unique collector's car. Tasteful colors, eautiful condition, ow miles, horough documentation, tc...If you've been looking for one, his beautiful example deserves your serious consideration. |
