Description of 1968 Porsche 912 |
1968 912 was last year of the desirable short wheel base 911 and 912 and known for being the most collectible years! This Porsche 912 was delivered from Germany to Sacramento in August of 1968. I have the Kardex which is more informative than a COA which also confirms all options and numbers. It also gives the name of the original owner and their address. If you are in the market to purchase a true classic that is both great to look at, fun to drive and also makes a great investment you have to consider this Porsche 912. EXTERIOR/BODY: NO RUST!! Original floors and rocker panels are all original and are solid with no rust. The undercoating is also original with no peeling whatsoever. The exterior paint shows like new- there are no dents or scratches and it has a very high gloss.Doors, trunk and hood open and close with ease. All glass, including windshield, have no chips or scratches. All rims, including spare, are original and are in excellent condition. Trim including chrome is also in excellent condition. Headlights are the original H4 lamps. INTERIOR: All factory gauges appear to be original including the radio (AM/FM Blaupunkt Frankfurt) which works great! Original seats with optional headrests are in great shape with a small split in the seam (driver side). Headliner is also original and in excellent condition with no tares. Carpet has been replaced and is like new. Front and rear seat belts are original and work great. MECHANICS: Both engine and transmission (5-speed) are original and confirmed by Kardex. Also carburetors/air cleaners are original Solex. This Porsche 912 will start right up and idles nicely. There is no smoke on start-up and revs up nicely. The transmission shifts into all gears with ease and precision including reverse. Impressively, there are no oil leaks. Tires, shocks and brakes are all in excellent condition. I would have no reservations about taking this Porsche on a long distance drive. NUMBERS: Motor number: 128 5620. Gear Box number: 1284712, Build Date: 2/9/68, delivered to Sacramento, CA on 8/30/68 INCLUDED IN SALE: Spare tire with jack, Tool Kit, Kardex, Owner's Manual, Receipts, Car Cover This 912 is a great example of an original, well-kept Porsche. There are very few "rust free" examples in this condition especially from this era. This 912 is ready for shows and being judged. As you can see this 912 has been well cared for by it's previous owners. I, myself, as the prior owner are avid PCA members and take pride in their vehicles. I have sold my other Porsches here on E-Bay with great feedback as buyers are extremely happy. I encourage inspections, but must be done prior to the end of the auction with no exceptions! I do have it for sale locally and this listing may end at any time if it is sold locally. Please do not hesitate to ask questions- Thank you for looking. |
