Description of 1984 Porsche 928 |
SCROLL DOWN FOR PHOTOS AND VIDEO LINK **** 4/19 UPDATE: I ADDED 50+ PHOTOS TO THE PHOTO BUCKET LINK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LISTING THANKS Thanks for all the kind words and interest! 1984 Porsche 928 Kiln Red on Black Leather 5 SPEED Family owned since new ( 2 owners ) If you want to read the history, here it is: Car was originally purchased by my grand father in 1984 from a St Louis dealer, Parktown Porsche The car was driven on weekends, and was considered his mid life crisis. The car was/ has been a weekend toy for the past 6 years or so. The car was sold to me from his estate ( he died in 2008 ) Since ownership it has had the following done in the last 2 years. GLB Motors in St Louis MO did the work. I do NOT have the invoices, and I called GLB ( Mike ) and their computers crashed about a year ago. Mike can vouch for the car, it was in their possession for 3 weeks and had the following services: - Timing Belt - Water Pump - Plugs/ wires etc.. - Intake gaskets - Brakes all the way around - Dashboard removed/ refurbished ( lights weren't working, tachometer was dead ) - Transmission overhaul - New clutch - Full suspension inspection/ serviced - Exhaust gaskets replaced - Radiator flush and fill, new hoses - FUEL LINES in engine bay I'm sure there was more.. all I know is the tab was just over 10k... The car is straight. I don't even see a door ding. The nose/ bumper was repainted. Some nice lady at the grocery store decided her cart would look good jammed into the nose. The paint is VERY close.. but if you look it's a shade too dark. Radio only gets AM.. power seats work.. leather is in pretty good shape considering the age. It's not cracking or anything. Dash looks great, minimal wear/ cracks. Head liner is tight. Sunroof works albeit a bit slow... Rear wiper does NOT work. Motor turns but linkage is disconnected. I also just replaced the rear hatch assembly. BUT - the electronic release turns but does NOT release. You have to use a key. Power locks work as new. Ask me anything else. hate to see it go.. but I don't drive it. LINKS** Why ebay says 3 owners.. here is why: The car originally sold to my grandfather. He had a collection of over 200 cars. When he died the family contested the will and where the cars went. The car was in probate, then sold to me. It was then titled. This is the only reason I can see why the VIN shows 3 owners. You can call me if you'd like, I know I am missing more ted 3142771695 VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/lo0hEIKCi0E *** an ebay member asked me about the driver side body molding/ rub rail. If you look in the photos, the body molding on the drive door goes up right before it meets the front fender. I detailed/ buffed this car apx 1 year ago. at that time the moulding was coming up, i took it off and reattached using 3m tape. the mounting hole for the rub rail was reinstalled on the door. I think over the years it has just warped a bit "upwards" the car has never been in a collision other than the front bumper being sprayed from the grocery store incident. ** ** I have also been asked about the speedometer. After the dash board assembly was removed and refurbished, the speedometer reads about 10% SLOWER than actual speed. ** Ie - if it reads 70, you are doing about 82 ( i used GPS on my phone ) ** ******* after a great conversation with a fellow enthusiast, I need to clarify. the DASH was NOT replaced. It is the original dash board. the cluster pod WAS NOT REPLACED. It was REFURBISHED. The lights did not work, and the trip odometer work intermittently. It was removed, fixed, and re installed. **** Thanks again to all the enthusiast for their emails and phone calls!!! ** lots of speculation on the car: http://bringatrailer.com/2016/04/18/kiln-red-5-speed-low-mile-1984-porsche-928-s/?blrb=1 I have listed the car with all honesty. Apparently everyone on the internet is an expert. I tried to be honest and apparently the pessimists are running their mouths on the internet forums??? I would like to personally thank the several enthusiasts I have spoken with and gained their insight on the 928. All the best - Ted |
