Description of 1959 Porsche 356 A Cabriolet |
AN A CABRIOLET TO BE DRIVEN AND ENJOYED. It won’t win at Pebble Beach, but it is a good running, driving and looking Porsche. I’ve driven this car around town for years. The VW motor starts and runs well. It has a lot of pep and is supposed to be an 1835cc. However, I have never verified this. Clutch, shifter and transaxle all work fine. It has been converted to 12 volts. The tires are good, the wheels are chrome reproductions. One of the front rims is bent…it said so on the box. It’s been on for years with no problems. The hubcaps are genuine Porsche. The brakes work well, all six cylinders were replaced about five years ago. The speedometer and gas gage work. The odometer and temperature do not. The radio does not work and there are no speakers. The top is a vinyl replacement top that I found for sale years ago, like something that you would order from JC Whitney back in the day. It looks good and works well; however it is not the padded cloth type. The plastic back window does have a bunch of little spots where the tacks were squished up against it in the box for 40 years. The interior is a mix of older seats and door panels and newer carpet and mats. This was a pretty rusty car in the past. The repairs to the underside of the care were done without the use of factory look patch panels. The work was done by a shop competent in 356 Porsches and if you choose to inspect the car you can speak with him. The body had previously had some work done to it. While the work didn’t look that good, it was holding up well. So it was left alone and simply painted over. There are now a couple bubbles and small cracks but it is still holding up pretty well. To be clear, this car has plenty of body filler with a lot of imperfections. Feel free to come and see the car or have it inspected. I have it near my buddy’s shop so it can be put on a lift for you. Email with any questions. Good luck bidding. No zero or very low feedback bidders permitted. The deposit has to be paid by Paypal within 24 hours of the end of the auction. Only Paypal account holders can bid. Payment of balance will be through Paysafe, an online escrow service. The balance will need to be transferred to me before taking or loading the car. Paysafe is very easy to use (see www.paysafeescrow.com). Cash is allowable as well. Sorry for all of the payment information, I do not want to have my time and listing wasted nor do I want to deal with someone who feels that these conditions do not apply to them. |
