Description of 1989 Porsche 944 |
Looking to sell my Porsche. I've come to realize, that as much as I love my car, it's really not practical for my needs- with two kids, I really need something with a little bit more usable of a back seat. It's a 1989 944S2 with Porsche's big 3 liter 4 cyl engine. Mileage is unknown due to broken odometer (very common issue on these) but it's probably around the 200k mile mark. This car has had a ton of maintenance in the last few months, and I will try my best to list it all..... New Bosch Starter New Crank reference sensor New battery Fresh undercoating New master cyl New slave cyl Clutch job including resurfacing the flywheel just completed a little over a week ago Transaxle serviced last month Short shift linkage from only944 New axles New Bilstien shocks in the rear Control arms rebuilt with Rennbay ball joint kit and Powerflex Polyurethane bushings Brand new motor mounts as of last week New windshield Brakes done last year Timing belt inspected and Balance shaft belt tension checked in Febuary I also have about $14k worth of records from one of the previous owners. The wheels are 18x8 and 18x10 two piece ATS Apollo II's with 225/40 in front and 275/35 in the rear. Front tires are Hancooks, rears are Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec (very grippy tires). Decent tread remaining. The S2 already has a chip in the DME, I'm not sure which one exactly, as the previous owner is the one that put it in. Cat converter has been deleted and replaced with a resonator (sounds great in my opinion). Original stereo replaced with a Bluetooth Sony unit. Keyless entry has been added to the car. AC is nice and cold. Sunroof has been converted to manual latches. Now on to the not so great stuff- Rear speaker crackles, could use replacing. The paint is NOT the original color; this was originally a Guards Red car, the previous owner had it painted black. It's not a bad paint job at all, it's just not the best, a few imperfections here and there. People still compliment how great the paint looks on this car (I am a little more critical than most). They did a good job with the color change in the door jambs, but the engine bay still shows some red. There are a few things they could have done better, but all in all, it's a very presentable car. Sun roof seal and side window trim are dried and cracked from age, but they do not leak (see pictures). IMPORTANT- Odometer is broken (common issue on 944's) TRUE MILEAGE UNKNOWN. Mileage is estimated to be around the 200k mile mark. The interior isn't bad for the year, carpets are clean and door panels are mostly ok except for where the previous owner had attached cup holders (now removed). Seats look good save for the normal wear and tear to the outside edge bolsters from getting in and out. The worst part is the dash (VERY common on a 944), it's pretty bad. A simple dash cover would rectify this. It's not perfect, and like any older car, it will need a few little things here and there, but it is a good driver. It could use some cosmetic work on the interior (mostly just the dash, which is really common on these). The rest of the interior really isn't too bad. It definitely draws some attention at cars and coffee, and even at the Porsche dealer where I work. Again, please do not expect a perfect show car. The care does have some cosmetic flaws, but it is a great daily driver. As a matter of fact I drive it every day, and last week I had to go out of town for training for work- I drove the 944 an hour and a half EACH way, EVERY day the whole week and it did great! The car will also come with any and all spare parts that I have, including a fairly rare Lexan Saratoga Top and a Lindsey Racing shifter (which has not been installed). I have tried my best to describe the car as accurately as possible. I may have missed a small detail here and there. Please ask any and all questions BEFORE bidding. This is a NO RESERVE auction, and the high bidder will own the car. The car is sold as is where is. No warranty expressed or implied. Shipping or transportation is the sole responsibility of the buyer, though I will be happy to assist in any way that I can. A non refundable deposit of $1000.00 will be due within 24 hours of the end of the auction via PayPal. The remaining balance will be due within 7 days in the form of cash or cashiers check. I will not release the car or the title until after full payment has been received in full. |
