Description of 1993 Porsche 911 |
Overall--This is really, really nice 964 Cabriolet. It's a US model, sold new in Sept of 1993 in Cleveland OH. It lived there until the fall of 1997, where it moved South to GA, and has been here ever since. Excellent miles, 58k, it has hardly been driven at all in the past year. I rescued it from sitting dormant in a friends garage. I have taken lots of time and money over the past few months to get everything nice cosmetically and mechanically. It's triple black (L-471), black leather, black top. Cosmetics are excellent, soft top looks great and works just right. Paint also makes an excellent appearance, it has been cut, flattened and polished to a super high luster, using only the best products and tools. She is parked on my indoor showroom, and has not been out in any bad weather since getting her this nice. It is totally ding free, our best ding guy has been around it three times to make sure. Panel fitment is excellent everywhere, glass is proper Sekurit and looks great. I painted the hood and front bumper cover, as well as the rear engine lid, for cosmetics (rock chips and bugs). Rubber and seals also in very good condition. Over the past 3 or 4 months, I have replaced numerous trim parts that were aged or dirty, so she looks very fresh. Under hood and engine bay are also very clean. Interior and trunk--Looks and feels very nice. Black leather seats in excellent shape, structurally and cosmetically. Power functions work properly, full power driver's seat works just right. Carpet is extremely good and is correct and original. This is a rear seat delete car, a pretty rare option in a Cabrio, and the compartments and latches are in excellent shape and clean. Door cards very nice, dash and instrument cluster very good too. The dash cover is not quite perfect, --there are two small cracks which will probably turn into something in the next year or two, but that is an available fix if you'd like--looks great still. There was a garbage aftermarket radio in it, it was a mess, so I tossed it and put in a period correct Blaupunkt Charleston . AC is super good. When we bought the car, the front condensor area was bad looking, like someone had caught a parking lot log. We replaced the front cover and condensor, as well as the AC control unit, temp switch and sensor. It is plenty cold and in the right direction. Windows, cruise, and central locking work properly too. Wipers are have new correct Bosch blades. Under hood area is very clean, proper tools and jack, tire inflator and spare. Carpet is clean and correct there. Note also that Ihave the convertible boot cover that is missing on so many of them--that thing is expensive! Mechanicals--The car runs well and starts on first twist of the key. Idles smoothly, and the valve train is very quiet. Muffler has a nice bark, slightly louder than stock, tech says it has a "j-pipe" which gives it the tone. No warning lights. During my tenure, recent mechanicals include: the aforementioned AC repairs, all fresh fluids and brake fluid flush, new front rotors, pads, and sensors, new drive belts, new reverse lamp switch, headlight bulbs, new CV boots, left and right, inner and outer, repaired leaky timing chain cover, and just sent the top control box out for refurb (Porsche does not offer this any longer). Also, new battery about 10 days ago.Oh, and new hood and trunk support struts. What's not perfect? Not much. But it is nearly 24 years old and cannot be. I did mention the coming crack in the top of the dash, not bad, but you'll have to deal with it next year or so.There are almost no records from the very early days--but the service book is perfectly stamped up to about 53k miles. I do have every receipt from my tenure. I do have all the books, manuals, etc. The CarFax and Autocheck reports are clean (Autocheck shows 76 on a 70 scale). I also have only one key, but we can overcome that. If it were mine forever, I'd put a set of new 17" Fuchs on it and it would be a stunner. Check me out at my encoremacon website. I am 36 years in business, a nearly 40 year Porsche geek, and play by the Golden Rule. I have deep references, and am happy for you to chat with the tech that has been working on her. Please note my Ebay feedback is 100%--and read the reviews. 964's are just beginning to get their respect. They are fun to drive, give you the involved Porsche driving experience that you love, but have the convenience of beautifully weighted power steering and AC that really works, unlike the old cars. It is not Parade Concours quality--and I know what that is--but is far, far nicer than many I have looked at. This car is way nicer than many of the cars at this price, and way less than the garage queens that you can't enjoy. And remember, I have none of the car dealer fee structure that you hate to pay. (GA residents must add appropriate title fees and TAVT). I can help you with transport or getting here, been doing this a long time! Honest 911, knowledgeable Porsche geek seller--the right combination. Glad to give you a walkaround or send you more pictures if you like. Hope you can own it! . |
