Description of 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Convertible 2-Door |
1 of only 412 Turbo-Look 911s Produced for 1987! 1987 Porsche 911 Carrera "Turbo-Look" Cabriolet 1 of only 412 Turbo-Look 911s Produced for 1987 The Turbo-Look 911s were built in limited numbers as an upscale option to the standard Carrera. The M491 package entailed a Turbo body, brakes and wheels, fitted with a naturally aspirated Carrera engine and suspension. 412 total examples produced for the 1987 model year, 302 of which were Cabriolets. This very unique Cabriolet was completed on January 28, 1987 and sold new April 14 outside Los Angeles, California in Grand Prix White with Burgundy upholstery, trim and top. Optional equipment included California emissions, Blaupunkt 'Reno' radio, central locking system, 8-way power seats, power operated top, cruise control, turbo look and alarm system. Additionally, the 911 was fitted with state-of-the-art electronic accessories when new. The Porsche comes from previous long-term ownership with residency interchanging between Los Angeles and Park City Utah over the years. This completely numbers-matching car is among the coveted 3.2L Carrera Series and equipped with original G50 5-Speed gearbox. Today, the car remains in stock in configuration showing 117,770 miles from new and retaining almost all original components, including the upholstery, top and cover, trim, Blaupunkt Reno radio and emergency accessories. Matching identification tags are still adhered to the door jambs and underside of the hood, while the undercarriage is nicely detailed, paring well to the engine bay. It's believed that shortly after purchase, the car was fitted with its AT&T mobile phone system (cellular module and transceiver dated 1/87), CD changer with remote control on driver's visor, amplifiers and crossover controlled by the factory Reno SQR 46. All of which must have cost a fortune when installed new in 1987, adding a very neat nostalgic presentation to the car's originality. The motor pulls strong, pairing well to the celebrated G50 transmission. A recent September 2016 service included a flush of all fluids with new filters, general tune up, air conditioning recharge (cold A/C), rebuilt convertible top motors, correctly sized 205/55 and 245/45 tires, alignment, headlight lenses, along with other minor cosmetic freshenings and a meticulously thorough top to underside detailing and steam clean. It appears the engine has never been apart, while internally reading an average compression 181psi per cylinder. The 911 is complemented by all of its originals manuals and booklets in vinyl sleeve, supplements, dealer directory, unopened Blaupunkt Reno operating instructions, AT&T Series 80 Cellular telephone System user's manuals, keys, fobs, registration cards, recent servicing receipts, tool roll, spare tire, and jack. The collectability of 3.2 Carreras continues to develop as more enthusiasts value the model's everyday drivability and nostalgia paired with modern amenities. This rare bodied example, complete with period 1980's charm is now offered for Worldwide purchase and delivery. $68,500.00 To learn more about this vehicle, please contact our sales department at (281) 497-1000 or sales@driversource.com |
