Description of 1992 Porsche 911 America Roadster |
The Porsche America Roadster is one of the lowest production model cars that Porsche has ever made. Only 250 were made for the 1992 and 1993 model years. This low production makes the car collectible and helps the car keep it’s value over time. This car is a blast to drive. It is rare and it also looks fantastic. To me, if you want a great looking Porsche, make it a turbo bodied convertible. Add in the fact that it is collectible and looks a lot better than a stock 964 and you are ready for a great time with this car. The Roadster turns heads everywhere. The car has been extremely well maintained and it has not been driven hard, raced or on a track. I have the original books and detailed records from the first check up to today. The car has not been smoked in and has always been garaged. I have owned the car for over 10 years. It is my daily driver. Starts every time. This is a 3 owner car. I knew the car well before I bought it as the previous owner is a friend. He bought the car from the original California owner with just over 4,000 miles. I bought the car with a little over 73,000 miles on it and it has about 145,600 miles now. To me, the car runs better than it did when I first purchased it in 2006. I have made a number of improvements to the exhaust system and the car comes with a custom Steve Wong programmed chip from 911chips.com I do have the car’s original exhaust and chip. The last leakdown test speaks for itself with great numbers. Cylinder 1=4% Cylinder 2=2% Cylinder 3=4% Cylinder 4=4% Cylinder 5=3% Cylinder 6=2% That test was taken at major service with 106,000 miles GalleryPerformance Upgrades The Steve Wong Chip was custom programmed for this engine and exact exhaust setup. A fantastic upgrade. I have the receipts showing the detail of the work. *Full Set of OEM Beru Spark Plug Wires *Two new Distributor Caps and Rotors *Major Service including Valve Adjustment and Spark Plugs *The Chain Box Housings and the Cam Housings have been resealed.along with new O rings for the oil feed lines *Installed Dual outlet Fabspeed Muffler. Installed and painted new Porsche oem rear drivers side turbo bumper to accommodate the new muffler *New Windshield *Both axles were repacked and 4 new boots were installed *Rear wing motor and new wing wire harness switch were installed *New clutch master cylinder was installed and clutch bled *New Interstate Battery In August of 2015 I had the front hood professionally painted due to the rock chips that happen to every Arizona car. After the hood was painted I had 3M clear bra applied to the whole hood. As you can see, you can’t tell the clear bra is on the car and the shine is great. The car has been detailed protected by the four step Glare product. The front bumper does have chips and a small crack that needs to be fixed. The chips just come with Arizona living. *In 2015 I purchased New Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires. They only have about 5,500 miles on them. *In 2014 the seats were restored and new black leather was installed *In 2013 a RS Clutch Package was installed at approximately 126,000 miles. I estimate the clutch has another 50,000 miles on it. The Lightweight Flywheel was previously installed. *In 2012 a new convertible top and upgraded plastic window were was installed. Roadster Summary Even though the Roadster has been garaged its whole life, it has not been sitting in a garage, it has been driven. As you can see, the car looks great, is collectible and runs like a champ. You can see some short videos of the car driving at 911Roadster.com. It has a lot of power in all gears and the top end is fantastic. It has a lot of room to run in 4th and 5th gear. The car does have some miles on it and those miles are what allows you to own it for about half of what a very low mileage Roadster sells for now. Plus, if you ever drove that “low mile Roadster,” the value would drop substantially. This car is to be driven and even with those new miles you put on, I expect this car to go up in value just like it has since 2006 when I bought it. As of today, the car has averaged only about 6,000 miles per year and that is a very low amount of miles per year. I bought this car to drive and have fun with it and this is probably why you will buy it. I have taken extremely good care of this car. Almost all of the service and maintenance in Arizona has been by Patrick Motorsports and at Stuttgart Southwest. I do have more records from when the car was in California where it was service by Porsche under it's original warranty and Chicago where it was serviced by the Westmont Porsche dealer and an independent Porsche shop. The car was always serviced at the proper time. It has always started. There is one small accident that was not reported on the car fax. It happened this year and I feel that I must let you know about it. The car was hit in the rear drivers side bumper. This allowed me to put in the turbo bumper on the driver side. The rear quarter panel had a little damage too and was painted along with the new bumper at that time. I previously had the body shop make a cutout in the original bumper to fit the dual outlet muffler. Now the car now looks much better with the factory bumper that the Porsche 964 Turbo comes with. I have recently spent about $6,000 getting the Roadster ready for its home. I know that it was money very well spent on the engine reseal, new plug wires, distributor caps, and major tune up along with other things mentioned under the 2016 tab. All of the lights and reflectors are in very good shape. The car still does leave a few drops of oil on the ground in the morning. If you have owned 911’s and I have owned 5, you will understand this and it is easy to live with. The car sounds amazing when idling and at speed so please visit the website 911Roadster.com to see the video. For some reason, it has it’s own sound and it is a deeper sound. It is hard to explain, it just does not sound like any other 964 that I have heard or my service shops have heard, Feel free to call me with any questions. You will love this car. I do.
