NO RESERVE AUCTION. You Bid, you might be buying. I am relisting this auction due to high bidder failing to make contact with me. I purchased this 914 1.7 Liter in August of 1983 with my brother. Depending on where the car was stored, the title changed hands between us. In the mid 80’s we decided the car needed more power. We installed a 3.8 Liter Buick Turbo motor. The turbo had too much lag, so the turbo was removed, pistons replaced, new camshaft with roller rockers were installed. The motor adapter plate and custom radiator are made by Renegade Hybrids. With the radiator in place, the car could be converted to a Subaru or Chevy motor if you are not a Buick fan. With 30+ years of ownership, countless parts have been replaced and many thousands of dollars spent. I have over $23k in receipts. The brake fluid was flushed 30 years ago and replaced with Silicone DOT5 to keep moisture out. The car starts and runs, does not overheat. The tires are new. No radio or speakers are included. The car does not have heat or AC. The wheels are not authentic Fuchs alloys. They are manufactured by American Racing. Why have I kept this car so long? It was my first car. If at all possible, I would highly recommend seeing this car in person if possible. The car is on a four post lift, I can take pictures of any part you want to see. Email me with any questions. Questions from eBayers from my prior listing: Is the car road ready? It is road ready but needs more bugs worked out. It starts right up and drives fine. It does not overheat. Can the car be use as a daily driver? Any issues with the 914? Not really, needs more time tweaking everything. Do you also have the 914 listed locally with a buy it now price? No, I currently only have it listed on Ebay. This may change.
When was the Buick V6 installed? The original install was in 1984. I started with a Jade Enterprise adapter plate....it did not work. Lots of machine shop time and finally tossed in the towel. Then I went with a Renegade Hybrids adapter. They use a high performance 200mm VW clutch. I am still using the stock 901 gearbox. I purchased a radiator kit from Renegade for $1200 with two fans. I have not driven it much and keep tinkering with it. I have driven a few hundred miles at best. Do you have the factory 4 cylinder engine? No, the factory motor was sold years ago. What transaxle are you using? The factory Porsche 5 speed 901 gearbox. Do all of the gauges work? Gauges work except for the Cylinder Head Temp. I keep tinkering with the motor and have not hooked it up. I originally wanted it when the motor was turbocharged. It’s a new gauge just needs the sender unit installed. I still have the Appearance Group 3 hole center console piece to remove all the extra gauges if you like. Is there any rust in the Hell Hole or any other part of the car? Hell Hole is not bad. Surface rust before I painted it with POR15 paint. It's not perfect but not bad. No rust on the bottom side of it. Rust showing on the front passenger fender. It's below the paint and hard to see but starting to bubble. Surface rust on the battery tray, but it was replaced in the mid 80's when the tray rusted but the surrounding area was OK. The rear suspension pivot points have surface rust. The belly pan has no rust. Is that factory interior? The factory interior has been recovered in leather. Does the car leak any fluids? Just recently I put on a new oil pan gasket and new valve cover gaskets. They were showing some wetness. Good now. Nothing drips. I just don't drive it much at all. I think 38 miles total last year. I go out and start it and drive it around the block. Anything mechanically wrong or needing repair with the motor? I have a vibration at mid RPM. I think the sound / vibration is coming from exhaust. I had the motor balanced when it was built after taking the turbo off. I installed a Crane Cam, Roller Rockers, Holley 390cfm carb. The center console is not finished. Need a couple of 90 degree brackets to mount my new gauge pod. The speaker boxes are just setting there and not screwed down yet. I am deciding if I even need sound. With the V6 install, there is no heat. I was deciding if I want water heat or just a simple electrical heater. Ebay Bidders Notice Payment Methods Cash (in person), certified check, bank transfers.
