Description of 1955 Porsche 356 Pre A Continental Cabriolet |
1955 Porsche 356 Pre-A Continental Coupe VIN 60817Here we have the 356 project you have been waiting for, a Pre-A Continental Cabriolet Color Code 5410 Adria Blue. The Continental edition was very short lived for Porsche, a few months after they started badging their cars coming to America as Continentals, Lincoln sent them a Cease and Desist Order barring them from badging a car a Continental. It is estimated that Porsche did this for less then 6 months and only around 187 Continental Cabriolets were produced before they discontinued the fender badge reading Continental. Considering how few they made of this model I am guessing the chances of finding another un-restored one is slim to none. Another big bonus with this car is the last owner had it for 46 years and touched nothing, just left it in the barn, where I found it. Seriously, it was in a barn in Virginia, a true barn find!So while it will need to be restored and have many hours of metal work done, what you won't be doing is tracking down all the impossible to find Pre-A parts, just the fact that the dash is intact makes this an amazing find. One of the only things that is missing from this car is the original motor number 34905, but it does have the next best thing, a blank replacement motor that is period correct, a 1500cc 3 piece engine, only available in 1955. The motor is loosely assembled and comes with an additional box of motor parts, but is not 100% complete. The gearbox, number 5921H1 is original and still with the car. The car comes with all 5 16" wheels that are dated correctly, three are Lemmerz and two are Sudrad. Another interesting thing about this car is the original color code of 5410, Adria Blue, a stunning color and one not often seen. So after you restore this car you will have the rarest of the rare, a Adria Blue Continental Cab, just park it next to a line of Speedsters at the next show and see what gets the most looks. The original interior is present, you can still see the Blue Leather. Please refer to the scan of the Factory Kardex to verify all the options and paint code, etc. Don't miss out! Clear title and ready for export. I am a 356 and Early 911S Registry member with an eBay Feedback Rating of 100%, so bid with confidence. Please ask any and all questions, they will be answered quickly and honestly.
