Description of 1982 Porsche 911 Carrera RS |
HOTROD 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS look
Built from a rust free, accident free,1982 911SC sunroof coupe: WP0AA091XCS120572
The body conversion is done with a fiberglass long hood, duck tail and front and rear bumpers. The fit is near perfect. The front marker light housings were hand made from steel and welded to the original SC fenders. The hood uses the factory 911SC latch panel. The hood has been reinforced with wood slats and fiberglass. The ducktail has been slightly modified to accommodate the stock intercooler. The front bumper houses the front mount oil cooler and brake cooling duct work. The rear bumper is slightly discolored from the heat of the exhaust. The headlights are H4's.
The engine is a twin plugged 1989 3.3 Turbo #68K89642 with a Garrett ball bearing turbo. Boost from the Garrett ball bearing turbo is set to .8 bar for reliability. There are no noticeable leaks and it only smokes slightly at startup. I have installed stainless heat exchangers in place of the headers it came with in order to hook the heat back up, but have yet to reattach all the duct work. So right now there is no heat. There is no documentation for this, but the engine was rebuilt in or around 2010 by JRM Motorsports from Gingerman Raceway in Michigan. The previous owner attempted several times to get receipts, but was unsuccessful. From his memory, it has JE 3.4 liter pistons and cyl.'s. 964 cams, raceware studs, 964tt fuel distributor, dual Electromotive ignitions. Etc.... What I can say with certainty is the engine is a monster.
The transmission is a Patrick Motorsports shortened 1988 G50/01 5-speed with Limited Slip. There are no issues with the transmission; no grinding, no noises. The clutch disk was just replaced with a new Sachs unit.
Front brakes are 1997 Turbo 993 Big Reds. Rear brakes are 944 Turbo There is no parking brake because of this conversion. Wheels are Euromeister 17"X7" and 17"X9" Fuch replicas with Nitto NT01's in 225-45-17 and 255-40-17.
The interior is done in aftermarket, RS Clone door panels, carpet etc. Seats are replica period fixed-back race seats in black leatherette. The dash is covered with a dashcap that looks great. It has functioning power windows and sunroof. I believe it still has the factory radio in the dash. It does work, but there are no speakers in the car at this time. When the interior was backdated, the speakers were eliminated.
The car has seen track time in HPDEs. Road America, Mid Ohio, Watkins Glen, Homestead. It is also driven on the street frequently. It is very civilized and reliable.
I bought the car in Oct 2013 with 93,628 miles. Currently has 98,658. It comes with a stack of receipts dating back to 1994 when it was purchased from Protech Motorsports in Greenville SC.
I am selling my car with no reserve, and have no reason to end the auction early. I believe the car will sell for what is ultimately worth. I have a clear title in my name. Please do all inspections before the auction ends. |
