We also have the Porsche COA coming, but did speak with Porsche and they confirmed the engine number being numbers matching, exterior color and options. They also confirmed the factory sport seating with the Recaro sport seats. We should have the COA within 7-10 business days and will include it with the paperwork.

If you are new to these cars, the 3.2-liter 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera debuted after a very successful run of 911SC models, built from 1978 to 1983. The Carrera was priced at $32,000 and shared most of its visual cues with its immediate predecessor, but had added power and performance, as well as other major updates. The cars came in coupe, open Cabriolet, and Targa body styles. The main upgrade in the Carrera was the larger 3.2-liter flat six engine, which looked much like that of the 3.0 it replaced but was built of all-new parts. One crucial change was an improved timing chain tensioner, and Bosch Motronic fuel injection, which replaced the K-Jetronic system. The engine produced 200 horsepower and came with a Getrag five-speed manual transmission. This was enough to move the Carrera from 0 to 60 mph in about 5.5 seconds. As you can see in the Carfax link below, it is a single family owned car with a very clean history: https://www.carfax.com/api/consumers/2385132/report/email/89c43f06563964b6018249f2ec1c82d6a45034f76df770d7ef2adf33b576e1bae2669850d549f6daCondition Report:
This vehicle has been stored for years. It includes a clear title in my name, as well as the data plates and the original door sticker, the factory manuals as shown, as well as some receipts. It appears complete and original aside from possibly one repaint or partial repaint. The paint is good and we did not detect any overspray aside from a very small amount on part of rear body gasket as shown. The paint is described in more detail below.
The interior is complete but shows some wear consistent with a vehicle with 80,000 original miles. There is no broken glass but there are a few very tiny marks in the windshield. It does not have the original Blaupunkt AM FM radio but does have a Sony CD radio that works well. Other than this minor modification, the interior appears to be original. These radios are on eBay and it can be easily reversed for the purist.
The paint is nice but does show a number of small dings, dents, marks and nicks from age and garage storage. We are unsure if it has been completely repainted and if it was, it was professionally done a fairly long time ago. The jams, trunk and hood retain the original finish for sure. We could find a number of flaws from use but it didn't take away from the overall condition. It also looks like they caught a curb by the back pass quarter. The floor pans, trunk and rocker panels are excellent as you can see. The doors, hood and trunk lid are also very nice. It is consistent with a vehicle that probably did not see a winter. It also has the original wheel locks and key as shown.
Please review all the photos for a better gauge of condition.
Mechanically, it starts well and drives straight, and brakes as expected. The engine is smooth and runs extremely well. While it has had regular and recent oil and filter changes, It has not had a tuneup since 2008 and is probably due for one. We are also unsure of the condition of the motor as far as a leak down test but we are impressed with the way it starts and runs. There is no smoke at startup and it is smooth at idle and acceleration. The clutch feels good and shifts through the gears effortlessly with no clutch or syncro issues. No warning lights are present and the brakes do work well. It is as smooth at 70 as 10-20 MPH aside from the tires. The steering is tight and there are very few rattles. The tires have tread but are old and should be replaced in the near future before any extended use.
While you can see that the A/C is present, the A/C does not function. We are guessing it needs a recharge but no guarantees. All the exterior lights function, the battery is nearly new, and the spare, jack and toolkit are present. Even the Porsche gloves, correct owners packet and COA are present. The gauges all function as do the clock, blower, lights, directionals, radio and horn. The interior courtesy lights function but only when turned on manually.
To summarize, it is our opinion that this vintage Porsche 911 Carrera Targa would be a very nice addition to anyone's collection. This rare find would make a great driver for the Porsche enthusiast, or restore it for a show car. These are appreciating faster than many other cars and in our opinion is a great investment.
