Description of 1980 Porsche 928 Euro |
Super Clean 1980 PORSCHE 928s EURO Selling At NO RESERVE! I am selling my very rare and collectible 1980 Porsche 928s Euro. This is a super nice original car that has an interesting history. I will attempt to describe it as accurately as possible, and as I have understood the history as it was told to me. This is the highly sought after Euro model whichcame factory with no sunroof, andthe M28/11 Code 300 horsepower fuel injectedall aluminum4.7L V8 engine, along with 5 speed manual gear box. Painted in Factory OriginalGuards Red, with beautiful and supple Black leatherinterior. This car runs andrides out well and should be able to be driven anywhere. I have personallyput very little mileage on thecar, but carappears to be road worthy and dependable as best I can tell. I had planned onkeeping the car and enjoying it,but some personal issues are forcing me tosell. This Porsche is truly an outstanding car and I hate to part with it. The car comes with a tremendous amount of paperwork and documentation collected over the years as well as general and specific specs of the car, wiring diagrams, repair notes, service manual, etc. I have a huge stack of paperwork for this car. The original owner whoI believe to be aMr.Stetina, hadthe car shippedto the U.S. inApril of1985, I have the shipping documentconfirming that date. I have miscellaneous documents that state the mileage of the car throughout the 1980's and 1990's leading me to believe that the current mileage of 44,xxx is indeed correct. Mr. Stetina kept an unbelievable amount of paperwork, documentation, as well as personal notes on this car. It is truly remarkable how many notes he took, and how much research he did on this car. In 1994, Mr.Stetina decided that he liked the later model S4nose and frontend, so he purchased the parts and had the frontend changed out and painted to match. Converting the frontend to the newer style front nose was very common on the earlier model 928's throughout the 80's and 90's. The car was well maintainedoccasionally driven for pleasure throughout the time after it was brought here to theU.S. until the untimely passing of Mr. Stetina in or around 2008/2009. The carsat indoors inthe care of Mr. Stetina's widow until12/2013 in which time it was purchased by the second owner herein Indianapolis. Thesecond owner described to me that with the help of a local Porsche expert, he rebuilt the entire fuel and fuelinjection system on the car in 2014,as it was in need of repair due to sitting in storage for multiple years. The second ownerput very little mileage on the car, and only tinkered with it occasionally due totraveling a lot for hisjob. He was forced to sell in06/2017 due to unforeseen personal issues at which time I purchased the car. When I purchased the car it was running and driving, but needed some attention. I took the car to my highly reputablelocal German auto repair shop in10/2017where I had an oil change andfull ignition tune up performed on the car including plugs, wires, cap and rotor using all factory Porsche parts. At that time I also had the rear brake system replaced/rebuilt includingnew brake pads, rotors, rear wheel brake sensors, and the calipers professionally rebuilt as well as an overall inspection done on the car. It now runs and drives very well and should be able to be driven anywhere. Unfortunately I have not had the time to put many miles on it, but what I have driven it, it is has performed well with no issues. The car is overall very good condition, runs out and drives very well. Steering and suspension are crisp and tight, engine and gear box operate smoothly, car is a blast to drive! The body lines and panels are very straight, the paint is very nice and shines well. The interior is very close to what I would call immaculate, very clean, nice and original with exception of an aftermarket radio in which I had plans to remove to install an original. The dash doesn't appear to have any cracks or damage and is in overall excellent condition. All of the leather and carpet are also in excellent condition. All glass on the car is in great condition and appears to be original. Factory spare tire, jack, tool kit, andfactorymini air compressor all included. The tool kit seems to be missing a piece or two, otherwise complete. In full disclosure, I will list what few details of the car that may need some attention in my opinion. The marker light lenses on both rear quarter panels need replaced, the passenger side lensis cracked and the driver side lensis missing. As I have found out is a very common issue with these cars, the gear box seems to have a slight grind going into second gear under heavy acceleration. I had the clutch checked and it checked out fine, so I believe that maybe the second gear synchronizers may be worn which as I have read is a very common problem with these cars. Otherwise the gear box seems to perform as it should. The car runs out well with awesome acceleration as well as a good idle, but I think that the fuel injection air/fuel ratio could use a very slight adjustment to make it perfect. The heater control on the car only seems to have one fan speed which is high, the fan performs quietly but only has the one speed. The heat and defrost blow out as they should but do not seem to want to get hot. The coolant was checked on the car and checked out fine, so I am not sure why there is no heat. I believe that the A/C needs recharged, the compressor seems fine but A/C only blows warm air. The driver side power window switch needs cleaned as sometimes you have to push on it a few times for window to go up or down, not every time but occasionally. The shocks on the rear hatch will occasionally not hold the hatch up, so they will eventually need to be replaced. There is a wear spot, or an imperfection on the driver's side rear seat, not that big of a deal but definitely noticeable like something was spilled on it at one time. The tires on the car have some age on them, so I would recommend that they be changed out before any long road trips simply due to age. |
