Description of 1960 Porsche 356 356 B 1600 ROADSTER |
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this exceedingly original and sought after Porsche 356 Roadster for restoration. This car was just purchased from the family of the car's second owner on the East Coast (most likely a Hoffman delivery car), who purchased the car in 1962 being only a few years old. The car had a respray early on it's in it's life to it's current Ivory, but was delivered new in the attractive Stone Grey with black trim and reclining seats. The car also retains it's matching numbers engine and transmission, as verified by it's accompanying Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The car was driven on the road for about 20 years and was believed to have been put away into storage circa 1979.The body on this car is fairly straight, with only some repairable damage to the nose. The doors open and click shut very nicely with decent gaps all around, with no body sag when open. Structurally the car feels very good and solid, but the underside of this car needs all the usual metal replacement parts (for this type/level of restoration) including floors, battery box, etc. An attempted repair was made back in the 1970's with what appears to be some pop-rivet, home-made replacement floors. The car's interior trim appears to be 100% original including carpets, interior panels, seats, top, rubber mats, etc. The car retains all of it's original "Sigla/Securit" brand glass in great condition. There is a period AM/FM Blaupunkt radio fitted. The car includes it's original jack and handle and a partial tool kit.The engine is stuck from sitting, and is currently being soaked with Marvel mystery oil. I'm sure a rebuild is in order. The engine compartment looks very original down to it's factory air cleaners. The previous owner indicated the engine was only out of the car once for a valve job repair.Overall, a very complete, highly original, two-owner, matching numbers Porsche B Roadster in an attractive factory color scheme. This desirable and sought after model is a very rare find, and presents a scarce opportunity to secure one of these cars and have it restored to your own level/specifications. Please look at all pictures and call or email with any questions. The description above is general in nature and not to be solely relied upon by buyer. Buyer to verify authenticity, matching numbers, condition, year, model, make, color, type, rarity or provenance and all other relevant information. This car is sold with a clear title and is available for inspection by appointment. This car is located in Southern California,35 minutes (30 miles)from the Los Angeles Port of Long Beach.
