There were no service records provided. CARFAX was provided to owner. · CARFAX shows the vehicle was first purchased in Houston, Texas on July 24, 1991 · Vehicle moved from Texas, to North Carolina, and then Franklin, Tennessee before being sold at auction to a dealer in Georgia. It was sold to dealer at auction in July 2016. I reviewed the CARFAX prior to purchase and made a determination that the mileage must have been a clerical error. In Nov 1994, the vehicle is reported to have 20,513 miles by the Texas DMV. These seems consistent with 3 years of ownership. Then in May 1998 the odometer is read by a Houston Inspection station at 5,972. Two additional checks (by the same facility?) show the car at 6,854 in Feb 1999. I think this is highly unlikely. In April 1999, the car is sold and registered with 47,412 miles on the odometer. This seems more believable as the car would have actually travelled ~27,000 miles in four+ years (from Nov 1994) o Minor damage. CARFAX and AutoCheck reports minor damage. Autocheck states there was no functional damage with no airbag deployment. I have looked at the vehicle carefully and there is a hint of bondo work on the left rear boot. You cannot see this unless you are very close to the car. o NMVTIS. A check of the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System found no additional items of concern Owners Impressions · This is my first Porsche. I decided to go air-cooled as I have owned several VW Type 1’s but have also owned BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar and Triumph sports cars over the years. · As you know, the 964 has the iconic Porsche 911 look and feel. Gauges are close-up and switches are all accessible. Typical German efficiency with the seating. · The car starts and idles smoothly; oil temp and pressure reflect normal; engine provides good acceleration with smooth up and downshifting from the Tiptronic transmission · No frame rattle, shakes, or noises at speed or otherwise. · Convertible top is like new and plastic rear window is in good shape; convertible motor mechanism works well; cover for top when down is in good shape (all snaps works) · All gauges work · All lights work (currently front right fog lamp is burnt out) · Glass and rubber are in good condition; all glass appears to be original (original stickers for example) · Driver’s seat has a tear in the leather; I have ordered replacement material and this may be completed in the next two weeks by Pop’s Top and Upholstery in Summerville, SC · Carpet appears to be original but is in good shape for 27 years · I would rate Paint is 7 out of 10. The hood shows signs of 27 years of road wear when up close, otherwise it looks good for its age. I have not had the car detailed so it could look even better when properly compounded, waxed, and buffed out · Wheels look original and are currently paired with Continental tires; 205 50 ZR 17 (front) and 255 40 ZR 17 (rear) |
