Description of 1970 Porsche 911 E |
Dubbed “The Secret Weapon from Zuffenhausen,” the 1970 Porsche 911E was the quickest model in their product offering at the time. Ironically, the E was introduced as the successor for the 911L as a “luxury” model with a new 2.2 liter engine, and intended to be a more usable option positioned between the 911T and 911S (Touring and Sport, respectively). Ventilated brake disks coupled with aluminum calipers and the first iteration of the longer wheelbase provide honest driving feedback, supporting the popular notion that the E boasts superior road holding to its sister T and S models. By replacing the Weber carbs with Bosch mechanical fuel injection the 911 “Einspritzung”, German for injection, delivers158 BHP and is most thoroughly enjoyed in the low range where the torque band is plentiful. German delivery 911E with numbers matching engine andtransmission in a very rare colour combination. Originallymetallic green paint code 83 with brownleatherette withcorduroy inserts type 22 This 911E car is one of 1304 built for 1970 lower productionthanthe 911S for the same year. This car was sold new to anAir Force pilot stationed in Germany. When hereturned to Canada he brought the car back with him. He ended up selling it to his doctor, it then sat in a garage for years before I bought it. At some point in its life like so many early 911's it was converted to ashort hood with impact bumpers, awhaletale and a red paint job. That was how I bought the car. I have owned the car for 3years and it is now converted back to a long hood as it should be. All Porsche parts have been used. The fenders have been replaced, the hood, the latch panel as well as one battery box that had some rust in it. I have sourced as many original parts as possible including the front and rear bumpers. The car is very solid from a structural standpoint. the floors, suspension pan, seat pans etc are all original. The rear quarter panels havesuffered some and have had some poorly done patches. I have stripped them down to bare metal. I will spray some primer on them fortransportation, but they will need work. The rockers werereplacedbefore my time. Thefront of the car is done and should only require minor bodywork. The numbers matching engine was pulled apartcompletely and checked over, I have photos of all the parts before assembly. The engine was puttogether but not by me so its running condition is unknown. It still retains its original fuel injection and looks really clean. I will include a picture of the car when I received it and one of what it should look like when complete. If you would like any further information or photos don't hesitate to ask. I have a set of 5refinished date matchedFuchs wheels, 15x6 deep 6 with hearts that can bepurchased as an extra as well as a set of seats front and rear redone in the colour and material the car came withoriginally. The seatsare in newcondition with new foam, burlap, and chrome as well as the upholstery. Shipping is responsibility of purchaser, I am willing to assist with shipping worldwide. On Nov-05-18 at 11:21:05 PST, seller added the following information: Please note as stated in the listing the wheels and seats are not included in the auction but will be available to the winning bidder at an additional cost. |
