Porsche 944 Turbo (Model 951) Reasonable Offers will be Seriously Considered This classic is very unique. The Nile Green color is quite rare for this model and looks awesome. This vehicle has a completely updated interior. All new leather upholstery throughout, seats, front and back, center console as well as the dash, doors & rear panels.New carpet with a complete Dynamat sound barrier installed throughout. No worry about the sunroof leaking, this unit has the complete hardtop. AC system has been upgraded with the R-134a refrigerant, perfect for Texas. I have all the records from the previous owner up to the time the vehicle was purchased in Germany and taken on tour prior to being shipped to the US. Also see the picture of the Carfax report. (Full soft copy of report available for serious Buyers) The body is in great shape. There are minor paint flaws as would be expected on a 33 year old classic car. There are a couple of spots where the clear coat has pealed (take a look at the pictures). Over all this classic is in great shape and runs and drives as one would expect of a Classic Porsche 951. A little history on the 951… Porsche introduced the 944 Turbo, known internally as the 951. The Turbo had turbochargedandintercooledversion of the standard 944's engine that generated 220PS (162kW) (217hp (162kW) in the US) at 6,000 rpm. In 1987,Car and Drivertested the 944 Turbo and achieved a 0–97km/h (0–60mph) time of 5.9 seconds. The Turbo was the first Porsche production car utilizing a ceramic port liner to retain exhaust gas temperature along with new forged pistons and was also the first vehicle to produce an identical power output with or without a catalytic converter. The Turbo also featured several other changes, such as improved aerodynamics, notably an integrated front bumper. This featured the widest turn signals (indicators) fitted to any production car, a strengthenedgearboxwith a different final drive ratio, standard external oil coolers for both the engine and transmission, standard 16inch wheels (optional forged Fuchs wheels), and a slightly stiffer suspension (progressive springs) to handle the extra weight. The Turbo's front and rear brakes were borrowed from the 911, withBrembo4-piston fixed calipers and 12-inch discs. ABS also came standard on US models. Engine component revisions, more than thirty in all, were made to the 951 to compensate for increased internal loads and heat. Changes occurred for the 1987 model year. Interior wise, the North American variant of the 1987 944 Turbo became the first production car in the worldto be equipped with driver and passenger side airbags as standard equipment. A low oil level light was added to the dash as well as a 180mph (290km/h) speedometer as opposed to the 170mph(270km/h) speedometer on the 1986 model year cars. Also included was the deletion of the transmission oil cooler, and a change in suspension control arms to reduce the car's scrub radius. A low production of this model was imported to the US in 1987, 33 years ago, with limited the number of these classics going forward. Definitely a great investment for any Porsche enthusiast. This unit will not last...
