Description of 1979 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow Silver Wraith II not Silver Shadow |
Rare to come on the market are these Rolls Royce Silver Wraith II's. At the time they were the most expensive of the Rolls Royce Motorcar line. All were hand built and only 2145 were produced 624 making it to the US market. The car painted in a deep Egglpant color was believed to be 1 of only 2 built. It is complemented by a beige top and a monotone beige leather interior. As you can see in the pictures the car is specatcularly preserved, the wood is rich and free of cracks or fading. The leather is lovely along with the wool headliner and carpets. The car runs soft and smooth, he transmission shifts perfectly and the ac blows cold. This is a Palm Beach car and was maintained as needed. The brake system has been gone through and everything that was needed was always addressed. It has always been garaged and it shows. More information on these cars is available on this website where the below information was obtained..rrab.com Constant development had resulted in a variety of improvements having been incorporated into the models from the Silver Shadow range. Having added a few important new features was the reason why Rolls-Royce choose new designations for models delivered from February 1977 onward. As the mainstream model the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II substituted the previous model and the Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II was added. The latter's long wheelbase offered four inches more space for rear seat passengers and in fact this model was the successor of the R-R Silver Shadow long wheelbase. The new rack and pinion steering in combination with a modified front suspension reacted more quickly than the recirculating ball steering of the earlier models. All in all however these were interim models helping to bridge the gap until a new model generation was developed for production.Technical Data:8 cylinder 90 degree V-configuration, luminium-silicon alloy cylinder block with cast iron wet cylinder liners; bore x stroke 104.14 x 99.06 mm (4.1 x 3.9 in), apacity 6,750 cc; aluminium alloy cylinder heads, win SU-carburettors; 3-speed automatic gearbox; hypoid bevel final drive; independent suspension with coil springs front and rear, ydraulic self-levelling height control rear; ventilated disc brakes front, lain discs rear; wheelbase 3,048 mm (120 in), olls-Royce Silver Wraith II 3,149.6 mm (124 in); tyre size 235/70HR15 The best part about Rolls Royce are that they were built to last forever if maintained correctly.
