Description of 1957 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II |
It is a 1957 Silver cloud II, the last year of the SC I series. I defiantly wanted the “straight 6” engine with the dual side draft carburetors. The SCII and SC III had the aluminum V8’s and they were a lot of trouble. I believe Rolls Royce replaced every single V8 built in the SC II series. My Rolls has driven 47,000 miles. It started life in England so it has some corrosion on the underside and it has right hand drive. The leather and the carpets are in great shape. The wood trim has lost lots of finish, but can be restored. The paint (an original navy blue) is completely shot. It is dull and crazed. The transmission was professionally rebuild only 100 miles ago The car ran beautifully when it was parked. Unfortunately I had a long term of illness (3 years) after it was parked and it sat untouched for those 3 years. When I finally got back to working on the Rolls, the fuel system would not function and the rear brakes were locked up. At that time I became involved in a law suit with my x-partner. The car has now sat in the equipment shed for 16 years total. It will be sold “as is”, “where is”. The tires are correct to the period when the car was built. They were new when the car was parked, but have weather checks from the 16 year “sleep”. The body work will be easy, though there are a few hail dents on the trunk lid and there is some rust on the left rear quarter panel. There also is corrosion on the under carriage. THIS IS AN AS IS WHERE IS SALE. THERE IS NO IMPLIED WARRANTY. |
