Rolls-Royce Silver Spur
1987
Excellent quality
Presenting a Rolls-Royce Silver Spur in Cotswold beige?? with rich chocolate Connolly hides. The twin fine lines to the waist-rails are hand-painted in interior matching chocolate. This would arguably be amongst the nicer late 80s Rolls-Royce Silver Spurs available.
The car was originally delivered in Canada so it has the European style full size headlamps instead of the unattractive 4 x rectangular headlamps (required for North American compliance at the time). We believe these significantly improve the car and look a lot better as it is what the designers had intended.
It was a 1 owner car for the last 28 years and then purchased from us by a very meticulous Rolls-Royce collector here in Chicago.
This is a true 9½ out of 10 car that is of very high quality. It has an amazing 34,000 original miles and it clearly shows it in overall condition. Primarily all original paint and finishes. The interior even smells like a brand new Rolls-Royce (I will never forget the smell when I visited the Crewe factory in the late 1990s!)
An impeccably maintained example in excellent condition and presents beautifully. Up until the local collector purchased her, she still sported the original set of Goodyear Eagle whitewall tyres from brand new. Now, brand new tyres are fitted for safe comfortable driving.
The body and paint is in very good condition with only the slightest imperfections. With the car mostly still "dressed" in its original single stage paint it is not perfect to current paint methodology but nonetheless does have an excellent original presentation and present beautifully with a high luster and consistency. Being a low mileage example there are virtually no dings or dents which you would normally expect on any car of this age.
The interior burl walnut wood finishes are perfect. These were redone by us as they were showing early signs of the clear coat hair-line cracking. On a lesser example car, we would not have redone them as they were not so bad but on this example being so otherwise beautiful, we elected to re do them. This includes the dash, centre console and door cappings. These are now like brand new with some 20+ coats of clear lacquer wet-sanded between coats to provide a very deep glass-like luster. And, with the beauty of Mother Nature, this example has an incredibly beautiful rich grain, very dominant burl markings grain and "Tiger striping". It is amongst the nicest burl walnut I have seen in the Spirit/Spur series.
The Connolly hides are pretty much without marks or blemishes with only a slight showing on the driver side bolster, and it all presents very elegantly. The seats are super soft and the close-up photos clearly show their almost perfect condition (nothing has been redyed). The dash “top-roll” and rear parcel shelf are nice. Almost all Spirits and Spurs from 1981 thru to the late 90s have suffered sun and heat damage which causes the leather to dry and contract. Especially around the windshield vents. The headliner is simply “like new” and the carpets still “wool-ball” like new ones.
Having spent almost all its life indoors and in the last 20 years, climate controlled storage at all times, the car is very clean throughout. Mechanically the car is impeccable. A very well maintained example by its current owner and every service, maintenance and repair issue attended to exclusively by Park-Ward Motors as required. The condition and presentation under the hood is excellent testimony to this. It was not even cleaned for the photos. The mileage is not verifiable by independent receipts but upon close inspection; under the hood, the underside, inside the doors, etc, there can be no question to its authenticity.
Before Park-Ward sold the car, the company's owner and founder drove this car as his regular driver, citing it to be "the strongest Spur he has driven". It takes a lot to impress our head-man so that says a lot.
We are honoured and very proud to have this example back in our inventory.
~~ This is a beautiful and very fine example that presents as a true 10 out of 10 driver quality car. You could confidently drive this Spur “as-is” to your next Rolls-Royce meet with pride and pleasure! ~~
International buyers always welcome ~ we have sold and shipped 100's world-wide. For extra photos on this fine example go to the link below. The photos are of super high resolution so if you right click on any, you can zoom in and see every little detail and defect in considerable detail.
A note from RRMOTORSINC:
“For those Rolls-Royce and Bentley enthusiasts who have followed my auctions in the past I welcome you all. For those who are new to my adverts and/or the marque, please note that as a serious collector of some 30 years, all my cars are truly described examples. I have my own private Rolls-Royce and Bentley workshop (not open to the public but dedicated to my own cars) with trained Rolls-Royce and Bentley craftsmen who are proficient in all aspects. As a team, we are dedicated to the preservation of the marque and as such, any car that leaves the stable is completely inspected and work-shopped to ensure mechanical and operational items are maintained appropriately. We adopt a “keep it original” mentality with pride and confidence, offering after sales technical support and assistance well beyond the sale. Because most of my cars are offered for the pleasures of driving enjoyment it is not always possible or practical to seek perfection (in the true sense of the word) but we do always uphold excellence in whatever we do. Our cars are by no means cheap priced cars but we like to think they are amongst the best. To this end, I firmly believe in the famous adage; “Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten.” We hope you do to.”
When our Rolls-Royces and Bentleys are commissioned for resale, they are indeed professionally and correctly “fully work-shopped”. No corners are cut. And it is all addressed in true Crewe tradition. There is way too much to list here but to give you an example of our commitment to excellence of the various processes, this is one such example of what we do:
Doors and windows:-
Every car has its interior door panels removed. If the wood is in need of repair (as most are) it is refinished in-house by trained and talented craftsmen at Park-Ward Motors. This is a detailed process of stripping the wood of its old lacquer, repairing the veneer if there is damage, staining the top surface as per Rolls-Royce methodology and refinishing with no less than 25 coats of clear lacquer. Hand wet-sanded and polished between all of its last 15 coats. New window felt guides and wood-to-glass foam seals are fitted. All window mechanisms are checked and serviced for smooth and efficient up and down movement. This includes an electrical modification to rectify the typical “slow window syndrome”. All tracks, chains and gears are lubricated. Where central locking is fitted, these are all serviced to ensure no “solenoid sticking”, another common problem. Units are repaired and or changed as required for refurbished units. Door wiring and door-to-body wiring is checked, repaired and/or replaced as required. The splash plastic on the inside of the doors to protect the leather panels from rain splash from inside the door is replaced with correct specification black plastic as used by the factory. Cut to shape and glued in position as per original. All door hardware is checked and repaired as required including locks, handles and scuttle finishes. The door is reassembled with all items cleaned and polished. The wood refitted and the leather panels are re-Connollised before final fitment.
Take this example and apply it to the many, many different aspects of Rolls-Royce restoration, service and maintenance and you have our dedication to correct and professional vehicle pre-delivery preparation and commissioning. **PLEASE read auction terms and conditions below BEFORE bidding.**

~~ **Please note: This Rolls-Royce is part of the collection of the Park-Ward Motor Museum. As a professional collector and experienced restorer and I have my own Rolls-Royce dedicated workshop with qualified craftsmen on hand. As a passionate collector of the marque I take great pride and pleasure in passing on any of my cars to its next owner (“caretaker”). In so doing, once this Rolls-Royce is sold, I will put the car back thru my workshop to ensure that it is mechanically sound and all major features and functions are operating as described even though the car is contractually being sold "as-is". Certain items such as final electrical tests and hydraulic pressure checks are usually left for this stage as these are considered "commissioning procedures". This and considerable other work will be performed after the sale and before delivery to ensure the car is in excellent order. This all done at NO CHARGE. Who else selling a Rolls-Royce on eBay does this?! This provides the buyer the peace of mind to purchase with complete confidence. Depending on our work load, please allow approximately 14-21 business days for this procedure. For more information on the Park-Ward Motor Museum and their skills, please contact me thru my eBay home page where I can direct you to see some 100 Rolls-Royces restored to varying levels over the last few years. ~~ Add a map to your own listings.
