Description of 1969 Saab 96 |
This is a classic 1969 Saab 96. It is in excellent driving condition and is completely ready for fun and adventures. The body is in great condition. Just a little bit of rust bubbles showing mainly on the bottom rear corner of the drivers door (see close up picture). Underneath the car looks very solid and tidy. It appears to have been originally red but has had a thorough respray to dove blue. and I must say the colour really suits this car. The paint is over 20 years old but it still looks extremely nice. There is a chip in the windscreen on the passenger side ( no cracks) otherwise all glass is excellent. The chrome and bright work is showing its age a bit but still quite presentable. The engine went through a major rebuild in the late 1990's and the car received other restoration work around that time. There is a folder of receipts included detailing this cars history and much of the work done. There is a note from the original owner saying he purchased the car new in Michigan but very shortly after moved to the Seattle area where this Saab has lived ever since. It looks like it has been around 10,000 miles since the engine rebuild. The original owners manual is still in the glove box! It starts easy and runs excellent. It has great oil pressure. The carburetor was changed to a Weber 34 ICH which works perfect. The radiator has been updated to a newer style that also works great. It has an electric fan that turns on and off automatically and it does not have any cooling problems. The 4 speed column shift gearbox shifts perfectly through all gears without noise or grinding. The clutch, teering and suspension are all excellent. There is a very mild pulsing in the brakes but otherwise they work great. The electrics are in good working order. all lights, ipers horn etc work. The Interior is also in very nice condition. The seats are comfortable and in great shape. Seat belts work excellent. carpets, oor panels and headliner are all nice. There are two large original Saab rubber floor mats included. All the instruments work (except the clock) and there is a working after market oil pressure gauge under the dash. The 165 R/15 tyres are in great condition and it has a good spare plus tools. There are also some extra headrests, ocker arms and misc. other small parts included. The original air cleaner is included. Overall this car is in very nice and very usable condition. Perfect for classic club drives, allying or vintage racing or just adding some fun to regular commuting. It has a clear Washington state title and is currently licensed. Buyer is responsible for shipping costs and arrangements. I highly recommend and encourage a personal inspection if possible.
