Description of 1988 Saab 900 Turbo |
I've had this car for awhile now, but only recently started going through it focusing first on mechanicals. This car is extremely mechanically sound and all that's really left to deal with is cosmetic/minor. The good: - Body is straight, solid, and rust free. - Power windows and sunroof work. - New clutch and clutch master cylinder just installed. - Runs extremely well and idles smooth. - Just had an inspection and oil change. - Brake master cylinder just replaced. - Oil pump, belts, and crankshaft pulley just replaced. - Has been cleaned up since photos were taken, I need to post fresh ones. The bad: - Headliner needs replacing. The eh: - Driver's seat isn't the right vintage or installed improperly--sits too upright/high (might be good for a shorter driver though). - Key ignition failed, so previous owner installed a switch/button ignition--works fine, just not 'stock'. - Trunk carpet/lid is ugly and should be replaced--the lid itself is in good shape, just needs recovering. - One hatch strut is worn out, needs replacing (hatch doesn't stay open). - Headlights need mounts replaced--I have some of the pieces, but need to still be installed, they are hard to find and access isn't great. - Paint is dull, but can be buffed shiny--hood has been done, rest of the car needs it to really pop. - Bumpers need refurbishing, but all there and mostly straight. - Headlight switch and heater/ac control not working. There is a mechanical linkage to them behind the dashboard. I should be fixing both soon. |
