Description of 1965 Shelby Shelby Cobra by Factory Five |
1965 Factory 5 Cobra MKIII Specs Car itself has 1177 miles, New motor has under 100 miles on it. Transmoission: HD 5-speed Rear-end: 8.8inch Posi 3.55:1 gear Brakes: Cobra 13 inch front, 12 inch rear Suspension: All tubular steel with coil overs Wheels: 17x9 fronts, 17x10.5 rear, 5 spoke Tires: Sumitomo 315/35/17 Rear Sumitomo 245/35/17 ************************************************ Engine, Transmission, and Rear-end This car consists of all new components not donor parts. The drivetrain is rounded out by a Centerforce SS2 heavy-duty clutch and a new world-class Tremec 5-Speed with short throw shifter. The rear-end is composed of a new 8.8 inch with 3.55:1 gears. All in all, this thing runs awesome while sounding fierce. Suspension & Brakes I was never a fan of Muscle cars although I am in love with sports cars. When building this car we were after the full sports car package. I wanted a car that was insanely fast on a straight away but also would handle and brake like a Ferrari. This was accomplished using the best in modern day technology. The front suspension is compiled of full tubular steel control arms with coil over Bilstein shocks. Meanwhile, the rear received a 3 link suspension with a panhard bar, also made of full tubular steel, while also using Bilstein coil-overs. The brakes were upgraded not just for performance, but also for appearances. The 13 inch Cobra Racing, cross-drilled, on the front and the 12 inch on the rear really make an awesome touch to the car’s overall look. Wheels & Tires The wheels and tires only add to the theme of the car, which in this case, is performance. Choosing the 17x9 fronts and 17x10.5 rear 5-spoke wheels The rear tires look like steam rollers and show that this car means business. The wide rear was an option that I simply would not do without. The tires have incredible grip and the deep V groove tread looks good too. Body & Frame Speaking of looking good, the body and frame really shine on this car. Just like the originals, the frame is made of 4 inch round tube main rails and the black powder-coat adds to its look. The body is made of fiberglass. The cars paint work is absolutely stunning. It is silver with charcoal stripes with accents. The paint work equated to $7,000 of the $70,000 it cost to build this car. Extras Tremec 5 Speed Center force SS2 Clutch (Indestructible) This car is a beast...It pulls incredibly through every gear and is so much fun to drive. All of this in a car that weighs roughly 2000 lbs and has a light weigh motor to maintain weight distribution and insane handling! Anyways back to the description.
