Description of 1965 Ford Mustang Shelby Front |
It’s hard to imagine drag racing today without some kind of Mustang sitting in front of the Christmas tree. And it started all the way back in the early days of Mustang. Go to YouTube and search “12 Second 1965 Mustang Drag Race” You will see what we mean. This Mustang has had its rear frame altered to accommodate Huge Racing Slicks. The rear end was also narrowed, but the bearings have not been added back in as yet to retain the axles. We didn’t do the work so we can’t guarantee it, but with your expertise, it can become something really special. Please see the last pictures of other similar Mustangs. The rear suspension has been changed to swing/control arm instead of the original leaf springs. Check out S&W Performance Group to see a similar set up. Rob’s Rod Shop has a YouTube video to help anyone better understand torque/swing/control arm suspensions. Don’t start this project unless you or someone you know has the expertise to do it correctly. We would recommend adding a roll bar as well. The original leaf springs would have needed stabilizer bars to avoid wrap up and hop when launched, and they are often replaced to provide better control when racing. In addition to the Shelby fiberglass front end, the previous owner dropped in a more modern electronic fuel injected Ford 5.0 liter engine, and a racing seat. You can buy the wiring/computer module or pick one up off of EBay to get the engine running. We have lots of whatever else you need at Mustang Beginnings to help you build this car the way you want it, including a complete rear end if for some reason you want to change the car back to its original interior and suspension. Please call us at Mustang Beginnings with any questions. We are here to help. WE HAVE 100% POSITIVE FEEDBACK AND PLAN TO KEEP IT THAT WAY! THERE ARE NO SURPRISES HERE, WE ENCOURAGE ALL THOSE WHO BID TO COME SEE THE CAR FIRST IF POSSIBLE OR SEND SOMEONE HERE TO INSPECT IT. THIS IS A PROJECT, AND YOU NEED TO BE KNOWLEDGEABLE, OR KNOW SOMEONE WHO IS, REGARDING SUSPENSION AND FRAME CONSTRUCTION TO FINISH THIS CAR SAFELY. THIS IS A 65 MUSTANG THAT NEEDS TO BE REBUILT INTO SOMETHING SPECIAL.
