This auction is for a 1978 Avanti II which was shipped new to Virginia in 07/13/1978. I purchased the car with 78,000 miles in 2000 and it now has 95,296 I have owned the car for 15 years. It was a Virginia car for all its life until I moved it to Florida and car has been garaged since delivery when not being driven. The undercarriage is in excellent shape and hogs trough show no rust. I believe I am the third owner of this car and have made the following changes. New cruise control, new am-fm radio with tape feature and power antenna. New tires in 2000 with P 215/65 R 15 on front and P 245/60 R 15 on rear. New custom made dual exhaust system installed. I also had custom radiator made that was the largest they could fit to car. The car has never overheated even on the hottest of days and running A/C. About 2012 I had car stripped back to fiberglass and new silver metallic with top clear cote sprayed. Car looked fantastic, andled well and was a joy to drive. I took it to my next Studebaker meet and the power steering started leaking badly and I had to remove P/s belt in order to drive it home. The car sat in the garage for about two more years and then I moved to Florida. The car suffered a scrape to the front passenger door from the tow dolly's signal light housing. I started the engine up and backed car out of the garage and washed it. Car started right up and ran fine with good oil pressure. Transmission went right into gear and worked well. I have changed oil and filter. The P/S has not been fixed, he driver P/W will not go down and I noticed a section of the exhaust cross over pipe will have to be fixed. ( see pics of under car and pipe) Battery was purchased in 2007 and is weak. Car comes with new carpet set, new sound pad for under hood, new motor mounts and some P/S hoses. I will also include any other items I find that I purchased for this car. This Avanti is striking because everything is silver see (Build Sheet) Car also has a special item that was requested by the first owner and especially made for him,extra long driver seat rails. The driver's seat will almost touch the back seat when at rear most setting. At last a seat where you can stretch your legs straight out. Auction must be paid for within five days.
