Description of 1964 Studebaker Avanti |
The Avanti offered here is an excellent road ready car that is set up as real sweet ride. This car looks and drives superbly and although I cannot guarantee it, the car looks, and probably is a 52k original mile example. I am selling this car on behalf of a friend of mine. See my other listings for other Studebaker's from this private collection. Options include :-
Originally sold in the San Francisco Bay area. Paint has some marks from the garage where it had been stored previously. The front drivers seat has been retrimmed and new carpets installed. The rest of the interior is 100% original and untouched. 1964 Avanti's tend to fall into two categories. Round or Square headlight. This is a transitional round headlight example with many of the 1964 upgrades, including single color interior, silver S badges, woodgrain paneling and steering wheel and standard rectangular battery. The headlight lenses are all glass and have not been changed to the reproduction plastic examples on the market. The paint work has blemishes and a little cracking on the front left side near the front panel. Mechanically the car is excellent and drives really well and feels tight on the road. Exhaust is new and all glass is excellent. Underneath there is a fully rust free chassis, hog trough and rear bar, typical of a Californian Avanti. It's a great car and highly original. For an original car, they really don't come much better and you couldn't restore one for the money asked. So if you want a super nice Avanti, this one is more than worth your consideration. I see a lot of road cars listed for sale that don’t seem too reliable when I look at the pictures, but this one is properly prepared and ready to go. Sure, it could use some light tidying up in places, but it looks the part and drives really well. The previous long term San Francisco owner of this car had 15 Studebaker's in his collection, all of which are similar to this car. All cars had nice options, re-trimmed interiors, recognized Studebaker upgrades and had a ton of money piled into them mechanically. All cars were his road cars and were often parked outside his bar in Fisherman’s Wharf. They are probably the most photographed Studebaker’s on the planet. Shipping |
