Description of 1963 Studebaker Champ |
1963 Studebaker Champ Pickup complete and running with 75,000 original miles. 259 cu. in. V8 with 5 speed overdrive manual transmission. Excellent restoration candidate. There is no evidence of collision damage to any body panel. The bed is dent free. The front panel, bed sides, and tailgate are straight The truck starts right up. I drive it around town. The 259 motor runs cool and strong. It does not smoke. The NP540 transmission shifts through all gears and operates quietly. The Dana 44 operates quietly. The brakes are firm and stop in a straight line. Wheel bearings operate smooth and seals do not leak. All lights work. 2nd budget paint job same color. Original color is Desert Tan which is copper. New Process 540 overdrive transmission casting C-91421U. Dana 44 rear axle. Original 1963 California black plates and dealer frames in excellent condition. Clear California Title with current registration. Champ can be driven locally. It will run at highway speeds. I have fully inspected this pick up and the am disclosing the following age and wear issues:1. Motor, transmission and rear axle all have typical minor oil leaks. 2. Tires are old bias ply. They hold air. 3. Steering is and tie rod ends need to be replaced. 4. Wiring and ignition have been replaced with modern universal kit. Works well but not stock appearing.5. Keys to original locks are lost.6. Driver flat window broken. Mechanism is in door. All other glass is excellent.7. Right and left floor panels have rust holes. Replacements available. Rockers and Trans tunnel sections are excellent.8. One small rust hole in each cab corner, otherwise solid.9. One small rust hole in passenger rocker.10. Interior fabrics dry rotted.11. Filler neck to gas tank union does not fully seal. Fuel will leak when tank filled beyond capacity.
