This 1963 Studebaker Avanti was sold new in Rancho Santa Fe, California, to a Mr. R.B. Mann. He owned it until 1971, when he gave it to his daughter, who kept it until 2008. The extensive delivery documentation, receipts, DMV registration documents and Studebaker National Museum build invoice show an impeccable and traceable provenance for this car. . This car is extremely original, with mostly original paint, matching numbers engine, original interior ( with minor and accurate seat bolster repair ) original Black California license plate, and original and excellent dashboard. . The next owner in 2008 purchased this car from the original family, and he embarked on a campaign of significant mechanical restoration and improvement so the car could be driven reliably. . In 2008, the next owner, an auto shop technical instructor, took the engine out and re-sealed the front and rear main seals, he cleaned out the freeze plugs and water passages so it would cool properly, and changed the cylinder head gaskets. Substantial work was done on the front suspension, and the brakes were completely gone through. The tires were also replaced. Many of these receipts are included with the car. .
