Description of 1963 Studebaker Avanti |
For Sale: Studebaker Avanti R2, which in itself is rare, and then add an original factory installed “4 on the floor” T-10 transmission and it is even rarer. (63R3906/RQ5156)Somewhere around 450 from the factory. This is an all original component car in excellent condition with 33,172 miles on the odometer. I believe this to be correct because in the receipts that came with the car showed 28,000 miles in 1993. The original owner (1963) sold the car through Barrett Jackson in August of 2014 and I purchased it in November. Again the word “10 footer” comes up. The paint does show some age, but otherwise the car is in great shape. The underside has not been detailed and does not show any trace of insults or rust. Performance is quick, fast and smooth. It answers when you ask. Note the 160 MPH speedo and the high RPM tack. The radio is original and does need a new speaker. Clock does not work. If a buyer wishes to have the car inspected by a certified inspection firm and then purchases the car, I will pay for the onsite inspection. Travel time/cost is not included. I am presently restoring two classic Jags and have run out of garage space and need to down size some cars. I have been holding the car for a buyer while he put his real estate holdings in order. That didn’t happen and now the car is again for sale. He did have the car inspected by a local and respected Studebaker authority and was happy with the results. The inspector did find an area of rust about 1 ½ long on the edge of the left rear frame. The inspector did say that the car had been a “factory respray” from a blue to the present Avanti Red, probably to meet a production shortage. He also agreed that the mileage seemed correct. I recommend that anyone interested in this car, have it inspected. The past inspection was done by Studebaker of Orange County, which I highly recommend. Below are some items I corrected on the car: Please feel free to contact me if you have the slightest question. Buyer is responsible for transporting the car. 714-681-3729 - Ross |
