This 1955 Studebaker Commander was a barn find and was parked from 1982 until three years ago. The original motor was rebuilt by Pilot Motors and bored out to the current 289 specs. Everything underneath the hood excluding the radiator (which works fine) was either rebuilt or bought new within the past two years. The car has the original 3-speed manual transmission with overdrive and shifts smoothly. We have not hooked up the overdrive since rebuilding the motor but to the best of our knowledge the overdrive will work once hooked up properly. Dual-thrush mufflers were installed as well as an 8 gallon fuel cell which was placed in the trunk. We have the original fuel tank in our barn and it comes with the car if buyer requests it. Overall the body of the car is in decent shape, there are a few rust spots, but those can easily be fixed. One of said rust spots, which was located along the right rear quarter panel, has recently been cut out completely and replaced with new metal. The original Commander trunk deck lid was replaced with a Silver Hawk deck lid prior to me buying the car. The car has black interior with a single cut in the front seat, but other than that both the front and back vinyl seats look great. The wiper blades work as well as all of the lights, including the interior dash lights. The defrost fan turned on when I pressed the button, but I would suggest using the many windows and foot vents instead. Overall the car is a great driver and mechanically sound, with a little work and a new paint job this car will be stunning. I have receipts for $8,300 in the vehicle (most of which has been put underneath the hood), for a small fee there are multiple (BBB certified) dealerships that can certify the condition of the car. I am starting my senior year of college and need the money to help pay off my student loans. If interested please email me at andrew_kozlow@surry.net or call (336) 374-3091 and ask for myself (Andrew) or my father (Reed). We will deliver within 200 miles for a small fee.
