For sale is a 1980 Subaru Brat We bought this truck back in 2008 on Ebay for around $2500. We picked it up in South Carolina. To get it running properly, e spent around another $1000. Defects; Drivers side tie rod is going bad (started to clang going over bumps). Hood hinges spot welds just popped off (as I was putting a new battery in it a couple of days ago). Need to be MIG welded back. A nick and small crack in front windshield (see photos). Rust on front fenders (see photos) Rear gate must be opened via pulling wires to activate locking bolts (see photos and You Tube video). Speedometer cable was broken when we bought it (never felt the need to fix it.... still have the old cable). Do not know mileage.... (broken spedo cable). Sometimes need to turn the motor off in order to shift into reverse. Needs new windshield blades. Still has old barn smell in the cab.... (the smell has lessened over the last 8 years). I would suspect the smell comes from the carpet. The Good Comes with a 508 page cross model Subaru parts catalog.... (for sourcing out used replacement parts) see photos. Rust still has not taken much of a tole on the machine.... holding up better than the other more youthful brats that we have had. Runs and shifts well (see video upshifting and downshifting). Sometimes need to turn the motor off in order to shift into reverse. The shifting has gotten better over the years that we have had it. Small form factor (easy to park in a nook in our driveway). We made a material handling rack for the back of the truck (see photos) we used it to haul large pieces of lumber and pipe. You will need to pick up a rack that fits over the cab (the rear rack is included if you want it). Were it not for the fact that my father lost his Art Studio space we would have fixed the tie rod and hood hinges and kept on using it. But, ince this truck was used for hauling art supplies and artworks as well as transporting yard waste to the local recycling center, e no longer have any use for it.
