Description of 1984 Subaru Other |
1984 Subaru GL Turbo WagonI'm the second owner of this great example of a classic 1984 Subaru. it was purchased from the original owner in 1999 with 78k miles and I've owned it since. This car has been babied and garage kept for the 15+ years I've had it. it's not 100% perfect but is a great car and has served me very well. originally bought in The Dalles. Oregon it made it's way from the Portland area to here in Colorado in 2008 with no issues along the away. since here it has been driven at most 1. 00 miles. The car runs great and is about 80% factory. with some tasteful upgrades/modifications I'll detail below. Never beaten on. never raced (hahaha!). religious oil changes at 3k miles. only drinks premium gas. I won't go into detail about how rare these cars are becoming. if you're here there's a good chance you know what place this car holds in the old school Subaru community. The detail-y stuff:170. 00 miles3 speed automatic transmission (see details below) with push button 4WDThe awesome stuff:Very. very little rust (on the rocker/door panels on driver and passenger side. but it is VERY minimal)Super clean interior. uncracked dash. near-perfect seats. tinted windows. all-weather floor mats. lean exterior with original paintRear disc conversion with brand new Brembo rotors. premium brake pads. and fluid change/flushNew Optima Red Top battery with less than 200 milesNew Bosch (not remanufactured) starter with less than 200 milesFresh oil and filter change. coolant flush and change. Lucas front diff/gear oil change. tranmission fluid flush and change with less than 100 milesK&N air filter with drilled air boxNGK spark plug wires with NGK plugsNew distributor cap and rotorNew fuel filterNew coolant temperature sensorNo oil leaks to speak of. just a tiny bit of seepage/blow-by above the turboPush button 4WD works amazing. no stopping to engage anything. just hit the button and keep on goin'!Engine runs strong. idles perfectly. pulls well all through the powerbandUpgraded (but dated at this point) CD player with upgrade door speakersUrethane mud flaps (front. OEM rear)The not-so awesome stuff:Minor front-end accident in 2004. had to pull AC condensor so the AC doesn't work but everything else is thereMissing trim piece on rear driver's side. the trim will come with the car. it's the clips that broke and I can't find the replacementsMis-matched front driver's steel wheel. though I'm including a primered wagon wheel that just needs paint or powdercoatFront differential is beginning to fail but the car is 100% drivable. there is at times an audible clicking that sounds like a CV joint but it's actually the front diff (FINALLY) beginning to fail. I can source a replacement 3AT transmission if you'd like. otherwise this is a perfect opportunity for the much loved 5 speed MT dual-range swapBleach stain in the back trunk area. it's hiding under a cargo mat. but it's there. otherwise the carpet is 100%The factory turbo-intake hose cracked so I had to have one made from aluminum tubing and brass barb fittings. it functions 100% but isn't factoryThe factory PCV valve hose cracked so I also replaced that with high grade tubing. you'll be able to see it in the pictures. it functions 100% but isn't factoryThe car still has Washington plates and hasn't been registered since the tags expired 5/2011Cruise control doesn't work. I've never felt the need to figure out why it doesn't but since I've owned it it's not been functional The extra stuff:A huge box of goodies is included. stuff like: an original Subaru factory service manual and a copy of How to Keep Your Subaru Alive (no junk Chilton manuals here!). lots of center caps for the wheels. a Greddy turbo timer that I never hooked up. lots of miscellaneous bolts. screws. clips. clamps. thermostat. radiator hoses. etc. Winning bidder arranges for pick up and/or transport from Denver. Colorado. Seller assumes to additional fees or cost on delivery. I'd like a $500 deposit upon auction's end with the remaining balance when the winning bidder takes delivery. Thanks for looking! |
