Description of 1976 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55 |
After Land Cruiser, verything Changed Click here to see several photos of this 1976 FJ55 Contact me at (515) 864-1275 or e-mail overton@aol.com The Elusive Survivor We've all seen beautifully restored classicautomobiles. The body comes off, he engine comes out,the interior is redone and every part of the vehicle isevaluated, efurbished or replaced before reassembly. These efforts come with descriptions like "no expensespared" and "better than new". The end results can bevisually stunning and financially staggering! Then there's that "other" genre of classic automobiles. They have the mystique and magic of objects that timehas somehow forgotten. You won't hear about theextensive restoration, t hasn't occurred. Like an enigmathat has somehow turned back the hands of time, ovinglycared for or, n some cases, paringly reserved for special occasions. "Survivors"are experiencing a new found appreciation among auto enthusiasts. Survivors may not beperfect, et that is, n many cases, hat makes them perfect. They have transcended the boundary of time and escapedan onslaught of use and abuse. Where the others have failed, hey have somehow prevailed. Their owners may havetaken them out of the game early or perhaps just had the wisdom to maintain, ppreciate and protect what themanufacturer designed and built so many years ago. This is a rare occurrence, specially when it comes to ruggedutilitarian vehicles that were meant for work! 1976 Land Cruiser FJ55 The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ55, lso known as the "Iron Pig" is unique! This example is one of the best low miles originals I have come across. These trucks were notorious for rust issues. They requirevigilance to keep them as nice as this one. Having only 47,300 miles and being garage kept helps considerably! The truck was original from Colorado and spent many years in Santa Fe, M and CA so she has always been in dry climates. This FJ55 has an older rust repair in the front rockers that will require some attention eventually but it's minimal and easily repaired. Other than the earlier repairs, believe the paint is original. Being a 1976 model year, his FJ55 has the larger 2F motor, -speed transmission and front disc brakes which make it more desirable that the pre-1975 wagons These trucks have a considerably longer wheelbase than the FJ40 making for a much smoother ride. They have five doors and real back seat that folds down to offer a ample storage! They're a great choice for outdoor lovers who like to go camping or fishing with kids and dogs in tow!
