1988 Toyota 4Runner This 4Runner was purchased by a friend in 2010 in Georgia. It was bone stock and rust free. All of the factory panels and gaps between the doors and hood are perfectly straight. The original interior is also in great shape and showed very little wear. The original hard top fits perfectly and the original headliner looks new. 1988 was the last year of the removable top on a 4Runner. Toyota also threw all of the best available options at this SR5 model (except solid front axle ). These include…3.0 litter V6, Power steering, Disc Brakes, Air Conditioning, Power steering, Power windows and door locks, automatic transmission, removable sun roof, tow package, and even a factory dash mounted inclinometer / compass. The new owner had searched far and wide to find one like this. When he got it home, he began a restoration process to make it 100 % reliable and look like new. The result is an outstanding example of Toyota history but is fully capable of being a daily driver, show winner, or capable off road rig. When he finished the restoration he enjoyed driving it in parades, car shows, and to several Toyota land cruiser association events, including Cruise Moab, Flat Nasty, and SMORR. It was always a big hit! Especially with my wife, who referred to this 4Runner as her “dream vehicle”. I was able to buy it and surprise her with it for her birthday two years ago. Since then we have driven and enjoyed it (especially with the top off), but we’ve found dream land, so the time has come to let it go to another enthusiast. Under the hood The factory numbers matching V6 was rebuilt and has been driven about 15,000 miles. This was done at 175,052 miles by PROformance power train products in Springfield MO. This included new belts and hoses, water pump, starter, injectors, and many more new parts. The 3.0 has plenty of power, and has always been extremely reliable. It runs great, just as it should. Body The body is in truly excellent condition and very straight repainted in the original factory color, light blue metallic (8D8). Even the factory stripes were professionally reproduced and applied exactly as they had been. The tail light lenses and the front marker lights were replaced with new factory parts. A pre runner style bar was added to the front of the vehicle to add some additional protection and a place to mount auxiliary off road lights. A top quality full canvas soft top and a bikini top (new in box) are included with the truck. There are a few small blemishes in the paint that keep it from being perfect, but it is without question the nicest 4Runner that I have ever seen. Transmission / Transfer case/ Axles/ Tires The factory automatic transmission was flushed and filled with fully synthetic fluid. The transfer case and axles were drained and refilled with fully synthetic gear oil. B. F. Goodrich KM2 tires (33x10.5x15) were added to the refinished factory wheels about 6000 miles ago. It ha new brakes and a matching spare but it wasn’t replaced at the same time. All function as they should. I welcome any questions about this exceptional vehicle, and it will be available for inspection. Thank You and good luck!
