Description of 1976 Toyota Celica |
Up for auction is an interesting example of a first gen Toyota Celica. Why interesting? I believe in the all go and no show mentality. Meaning, I've put my efforts into making it handle tighter, go faster, stop quicker, and generally just perform better than it was originally designed to do. I've had this Celica for nearly two decades. and have done a lot of work to it over the years, and accumulated a large amount of miscellaneous parts. Most of the engine parts came from LC Engineering, they specialize in 22R performance, among other engines. Other parts were generally sourced from eBay! The engine was very recently replaced, as the previous engine finally gave up the ghost. There isn't even a dozen miles on the rebuild! The Celica does have it's flaws, as I wasn't very concerned with appearances. The paint is faded and chipped, there are a few dings here and there. The seats are very crusty, but the rest of the interior is in good shape. There's a crack on the passenger side of the windshield. There's a small spot of rust on the driver's side door (see pics), and the front passenger fender is a little wrinkled, (see pics) but I am giving you replacement fenders. Someone also tried to unsuccessfully break into the car a few years back by knocking out the door lock and I never got around to replacing it. The tires are in decent shape, but are getting pretty old. A partial list of the upgrades currently in place: Four wheel disc brakes (stock had drums in the rear) W58 Transmission AE86 LSD rear end Single piece aluminum driveshaft (stock was a complicated two piece design) Professionally rebuilt high performance 22R engine Canon intake fed by dual Weber DCOE sidedraft carbs Boyd wheels Autometer gauges throughout Electric fan assembly on the radiator JDM spec bumpers front and rear Grill unavailable in the U.S. (I think I picked it up in Australia) Header and new exhaust Crane Pro Ignition system, including a Crane Coil, and performance distributor, wires, and plugs Redline electric fuel pump, pressure regulator, and a 20 gal aluminum fuel cell replacing the original fuel tank Alarm system and keyless entry On top of that, I have an assortment of rare to impossible to find parts that go along with the Celica worth a decent amount of money by themselves. There are multiple grills of various types, a right metal front fender, a set of NOS fiberglass front fenders, a spoiler and airdam, headlamp bezels, various spare side lamp covers, extra door handles, the original fuel tank, and anything else I came across during the years I've owned it. Feel free to ask questions or request pictures. eBay only lets me add 12 for free, so if there's something specific you want to see let me know. Just don't ask how much I've spent on it over the years, I try not to think about it. |
