Description of 1976 Toyota FJ Cruiser |
1976 FJ40 Toyota Landcruiser - Chevy V8 NO RESERVE! This is a 1976 Toyota FJ40. This cruiser was one of three that belonged to a local farmer who recently passed away. I purchased them from his widow. Only 2 of them were complete - this being one, the other complete cruiser is sold, and the third is a '67 cruiser that, along with a 4 door cruiser, I am going to sell for parts on eBay at a later date. This FJ was used for hunting trips, and also a local, run around town vehicle . He had owned it for many years. I'm not sure whether he did the small block conversion, or if he bought it that way, but it appears it was done right. It doesn't looked patched together, and appears to me that they used an adapter to mate the original transmission. I'm guessing the engine is a 350, but not 100% sure, could be 305, 327 etc.. This is a vehicle that was "running when it was parked". I don't know if you've heard that as many times as I have, but generally when a local farmer tells you this, its true. The engine is free and will turn by hand, but I have made no attempt to start it. By everyone's best estimate, it has been approximately 20 years since this FJ was running. I'm not a Toyota guy, but from what I have seen here on eBay and elsewhere, this one suffers from the same cancer that most of them do. It has rust around the edges of floorboards, in the rockers, and rear quarters. I tried to get it all in the pictures. It has had some bondo rust repair, probably 25 years ago, in several places. The frame appears to be completely solid. Other than the engine, this vehicle is remarkably original, and anyone who has been around small block Chevy engines, knows how easy and cheap to work on they are, as well as how dependable they are. All the glass is in good condition and all the knobs, switches, etc are still in place. The tires are old and mismatched, but vehicle rolls fine. This vehicle will be sold with a State of Kansas bill of sale, as the title has been lost. I will be happy to help with any paperwork, within reason, that your state may need. I will also be happy to load this vehicle for you, free of charge. I don't mind storing this vehicle for free until you can come get it, as long as it is paid for in a timely manner, and as long as it doesn't stretch into months. I'm flexible and easy to work with.
