Description of 1988 Toyota Land Cruiser |
Terrific example of the classic, nearly indestructible FJ62 with original paint and a very rare painted-on (not a decal) striping on the sides. This is by no means a car in showroom condition -- it has the minor nicks and dings appropriate for its age and relatively low miles (not especially common to find Land Cruisers with less than 200,000 miles that don't have some major flaw as the reason they weren't driven more). It is more like a perfectly broken in pair of jeans than a new pair from a high-end designer brand. Unlike many of the refinished Land Cruisers for sales here and elsewhere, this one is totally honest to the time it was made and to the journeys it has travelled, with hundreds of thousands of miles still to go. Mechanicals and paint all original on this original vintage SUV's except where brought back to current spec. The bad news, all cosmetic: Prior owner replaced the original tape deck and radio with a CD player; I have the original radio which needs the power button (which I also have ) to be glued back in place, should the new owner want a truly stock look. The antenna for the radio needs to be replaced. There is a small tear in the front passenger seat at about shoulder height. The back steel bumper has a ding in it, which could be knocked out or replaced. Some of the paint has lightly rubbed off on the decal on the passenger side rear, barely noticeable. The carpet of the trunk is worn in a couple places. That's it.Purchased for $10,500, then spent over $11,000 having it brought back to original driving shape by TLC 4x4 (brakes, steering, shocks, etc.) after they performed their $500 full inspection which takes three days to make sure we were repairing all mechanical issues. They are the best in the business and the best doesn't come cheaply. Receipts available for all to share with interested buyers, along with extensive photos of interior, exterior, under the hood, and undercarriage. Drives, runs, turns, stops, heats, cools, and all around performs excellently. We just did a round trip from LA to Northern California without a hitch, comfortably cruising at highway speeds for long stretches. A new addition to the family makes this no longer practical so am sad to see this truck go.Serious inquiries only please. |
