Description of 1979 Toyota Other |
Very rare car! This car was mostly a garage queen prior to my ownership racking up just over 100,000 miles before I got it Finished with period correct JDM parts, this car looks like something right out of Initial D. My dream was always to own car like this and the price of Datsun 510s made it nearly impossible. The Corona is larger than a Corolla but smaller than a Cressida. It shares most of it's parts with the trucks rather than the other cars. The suspension is similar to the same year Celica but slightly different. Parts are not too hard to find despite 1979 being a very rare year. Some Toyota experts have told me there are less than 100 79's left. Way more other years around. I purchased this car off I believe the second owner and customized it to my tastes. The fender mirrors and fender flares are NOS aftermarket, not chinsy knock offs. The wheels are XXRs but they are to a period design and look great on the Yota. Original paint except hood and minimal rust for the year. It is a Japanese 70's car so there is some rust here and there but overall it is clean example. Rockers and floors are solid as new. Unfortunately a few years ago the poor girl was caught in a hail storm. The damage is minimal but it is there and the low price reflects this. Due to this, the car now has a set of 1980/81 tail lights. The originals are included. The interior is presentable and the headliner is not all shredded like most. The dash has some cracks and the one head rest is split. I do have the factory radio and that does work. The carpet is there. Its a little rough but the floor mats hide that. The engine and suspension are stock. I was going to hop up the 20r but decided to work on another project. A number of parts have been replaced such as water pump, alternator, radiator, clutch master cylinder, front brake pads, and many others I am forgetting. A lot of new parts are included such as a new double row timing chain, a clutch slave cylinder, and a gasket set. I'm positive there are others too. This car is the perfect start to an amazing SCCA or race car project. It is not currently on the road but I drove it all last year every day until I started replacing parts. It has been sitting for a few months and with any 37 year old car, you should expect to go over it before putting it on the road. The car has faint hail damage, do not expect a perfect vehicle but a great project/ starting point. AS IS WHERE IS. Described to the best of my ability, no refunds. No haggling. Come see it in person if you are not sure. I want you and I both comfortable with the sale. There may be dents rust damage scratches swirls broken or mismatched parts.
