I BOUGHT THIS 1987 TOYOTA COROLLA FOR MY SON AS HIS FIRST CAR. IT HAD BEEN LEFT BEHIND BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER, GARAGED AND COVERED, WHEN HE PASSED. BASICALLY A TIME CAPSULE. IT HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, FACTORY AIR CONDITIONING, AM/FM RADIO, AND CRANK WINDOWS. PRETTY BASIC, BUT A FANTASTIC FIRST CAR, WHICH ALWAYS GOT HIM FROM POINT A to POINT B, AND GOT ROUGHLY 32 MPG WITH THE STOCK 1.6 LITER SINGLE OVERHEAD CAM MOTOR. WE REBUILT THE TRANSMISSION AFTER A YEAR OF DRIVING IT. (IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY IN GLENDALE, CALIFORNIA). UNFORTUNATELY, HE IGNORED THE OIL LIGHT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND THE MOTOR IS TOAST. IT STILL RUNS, BUT THE HEAD GASKET HAS LOST ITS INTEGRITY, DRINKS OIL, ETC. IT CAN BE DRIVEN SHORT DISTANCES ONLY. IDEALLY, I WOULD LIKE TO FIND A VINTAGE TOYOTA ENTHUSIAST TO REBUILD IT, OR TURN IT INTO ONE OF THE FANTASTIC RETRO-TUNER CARS I SEE ALL THE TIME ON THE INTERNET. VINTAGE TOYOTA STUFF IS VERY HOT, AND THE PERFORMANCE PEOPLE ARE TWEAKING FROM THE CARS IS INCREDIBLE. TO THAT END, I CAN OFFER THIS CAR AS A NO-ACCIDENTS, ZERO-RUST-EVER, ALWAYS LOS ANGELES STARTING POINT!! IT HAS GOOD TIRES, AC, A NEW EXHAUST WITH CHROME TIP, AND ORIGINAL PAINT AND INTERIOR, AS WELL AS THE AFOREMENTIONED REBUILT TRANSMISSION . THE ONLY BUMMER IS THE MOTOR. MY SON IS GOING OFF TO SCHOOL NOW, AND I CANT JUSTIFY A FULL REBUILD OR MOTOR REPLACEMENT. I HAVE THE CLEAN CALIFORNIA TITLE IN MY NAME.
