Description of 1984 Toyota Land Cruiser |
I have not owned the rig for very long. I had dreams of going through the restoration process, but reality sunk in and I simply do not the have time to oversee a restoration project. I still would like an FJ60 but I am going to have to just pay for one that has already been completely restored. I love this description of the trucks and is also why I think there is nothing else like them: “Among the most sought after 4x4 vehicles ever produced is the Toyota Landcruiser FJ60. Classic and rugged the FJ60 has been loved by both the die hard rock climber as well as the professional businessman. These trucks are legendary in off-roading circles for being reliable and extremely agile due to their short wheel base. Given their track record in some pretty inhospitable places well its easy to see why these are growing tremendously in market value.Toyotas 4.2-liter I-6 powered Land Cruisers for decades and provides the torque necessary for off road excitement; its proven itself time and again when conditions were less than ideal.” Below you will find specifics regarding the rig. Items of note: 1. Vehicle runs well – no smoking or knocking 2. Transmission shifts well through all gears 3. Entire powertrain feels very strong and mechanically sound overall 4. Brakes work well no grinding or squealing 5. Glass is all good 6. Windows operate well 7. Wipers both front and back work well 8. New muffler recently installed 9. All gauges work well 10. Reliable enough to be a daily driver 11. Tires all have decent tread life 12. Interior is in pretty decent shape 13. New dash 14. New rear hatch struts 15. All original badging in place 16. Looks pretty darn good as it is and gets a lot of compliments 17. Heater works well 18. Lighting all works as it should (headlights, tail lights, blinkers, brake lights, dome light) 19. I have not noticed any significant leaking of any fluids 20. Doors all open and close well with proper gap 21. Headliner is in good shape and has no tears or rips 22. No rust in rain gutters which is common in the FJ60’s
Let me start this section by prefacing that this rig is 34 years old and has never been restored so it has dents, dings, some rust, and various other imperfections. I am not advertising this truck as “like new” or anything close. With that said, below is a list of everything I can think of that I have noticed or would want to know myself. If I didn’t list something you would like to know about please feel free and reach out to me.
1. Rust under rockers and quarter panels 2. A/C does not work 3. Was repainted at some point and the paint job was poorly done 4. Bumpers are beat up 5. Cigarette burn in center of drivers seat 6. Undercarriage shows signs of rust 7. Choke needs to be halfway out to idle smooth (but in this location, it does not die or have any issues) 8. Cracked washer fluid reservoir 9. Carpet in rear cargo area shows signs of wear 10. Glove box does not work 11. One speaker in rear works |
