Description of 1977 Toyota Pickup SR5 |
This 41 year old Toyota Hilux Pickup Truck is in excellent mechanical shape. It runs and drives almost like new with less than 120k original miles. It was originally imported from Japan to Long Beach, CA and is still equipped with all of its CA emissions equipment. It has been gone through from stem to stern by Toyota professionals. Compression check shows 150 PSI in all 4 cylinders. Recent valve cover gasket replacement and valve adjustment shows a pristine valve train with a tight double row timing chain with all metal guides. New NGK spark plugs, wires, cap & rotor with unique adjustable thumb turn timing adjustment from outside the distributor which is very cool and unique. New oil filter and motor oil with absolutely no leaks. Radiator flushed with new thermostat and absolutely no coolant leaks. New/Rebuilt '77 CA spec Aisin carburetor bought from Carburetor Exchange in LA was just professionally installed with new gaskets along with new fuel filter. Stainless steel headers with a nice thick flange were installed so all the exhaust back to front is brand new all the way to the exhaust tip, including a new Cal Spec Catalytic converter and muffler. New gear oil in rear differential and transmission. All the lights, signals and everything in the interior works as it should except the old Craig aftermarket stereo deck and the wipers as the wiper motor is missing but the wiper transmission is all there. The motors sell for $30 on eBay but it rains so little here that I just use Rain X. When I acquired the truck the stock automatic transmission shifted fine but had no reverse so it was removed and replaced with a brand new flywheel, new clutch disc, new pressure plate, new throwout bearing, new pilot bearing, new clutch master cylinder, new clutch slave cylinder and new clutch pedal assembly from a 1980 pickup along with a known good 4 speed manual transmission from a 1980 pickup. Shifts smooth and concise in every gear and is a joy to drive on the streets. The stock wheels were 14 inch but one of the original hard to find hup caps was missing so I replaced the 4 wheels with 17 inch Toyota Matrix rims with good used rubber. Turns out 17's are much easier to find nowadays and the look is a nice retro mod making it look lower to the ground because the wheel wells are filled. This truck came from Los Angeles to Tucson so there is no rust or cancer on the frame whatsoever. There were 3 small spots of minor exterior body rust which I had professionally cut out by master metal fabricator Marco Chavez who carefully welded in new identical gauge steel piece then ground down the welds and added only the barest skim coat of filler shown in pics forward of the lower doors. There are 2 small spots of rust on each inner fender under the hood about the size of a quarter that I just left alone because you have to look hard to find them. The paint is all original with a patina that only car show producers dream of! Just look at it. It almost looks like it's liquid wet in some spots but rest assured it's all bone desert dry. Since these pics were taken I found some paint fairly close to the original color, primed those 3 fixed spots plus the front valance and painted. I absolutely love this truck as does my crew but I've got an acre full of them and things have to go so my loss is your gain. Of course a clean, notarized AZ title comes with it. Any questions you can't solve through eMail call 52O-Nine 77-O 11 Two. A very similar truck just sold for $4,050 but it was not as nice as this one:https://www.ebay.com/itm/1977-Toyota-Pickup-SR5/253409608175?hash=item3b0063c1ef:g:CbwAAOSwvktad1gY&vxp=mtr Because it's more than 25 years old this truck is eligible in all 50 States for Historic Plates and Collector Car Insurance Status which means you can arrange through outfits like Grundy Worldwide or Haggerty a $5,000 Full Coverage insurance policy for less than $120 per year which automatically makes it emissions exempt, although this truck still has all the factory California emissions equipment. A $1000 non-refundable deposit is due within 24 hours of auction close. Balance due within 72 hours of auction close. There are many payment options we can discuss. Call 52O-Nine 77-O11 Two with any questions. Vehicle is also listed locally so auction could end at any moment.
